I posted this in the suggestion thread briefly but I wanted to create a space for discussing this unique idea.
Suggestion 1: In game player ranks shown on forums profile summary, in addition to forum rank or to replace it maybe? Of course this would have to be linked gamertags only.
Suggestion 2: This could be a medal rather than a rank. A medal for each game version on difficulty completed or rank etc? Those would be interesting medals to newcomers, veterans and bragging rights
I’m not really for ranking in games for bragging but those older games did have ranks, achievements etc and it might be nice to have public things to show what you’ve done in your time with Halo. All at a glance next to your forum posts.
What do you think?
Further along with the new trilogy or spin-offs those medals could simply be automatically added too. Nice unlocks and inbox messages for members.
I think it should show your Reach rank, Halo 4 rank, Halo 3 completion difficulty, Halo Reach completion difficulty and Halo 4 completion difficulty.
Of course, these symbols would be tiny. I don’t think it should include Halo Wars or Halo 3: ODST, as they are not main Halo games and not many people, specifically Halo Wars, have purchased them.
But yeah, pretty cool ideas. I really don’t like so much room being taken up though. If they could get them into tiny symbols, it’d be fine.

To be honest, I don’t think it is worth the space. It’s almost like adding and additional service record to yourself, that 99% of people already have the same exact thing as you. Doesn’t really represent much other then that you and everyone else has played Halo’s 1 - Reach.
It’s not something I think would serve a purpose expect being redundant.

To be honest, I agree as well. I though 3 medals were plenty before I got my E3 medal. Side note, I have yet to see someone with all 4.

It is possible, meaning is there enough space for it?

It would probably just start a new line so that there are two rows of medals. Sounds like a bit much.

I think Halo Wars and ODST should both be included, many people bought and enjoyed ODST. And as for Halo Wars, it should be displayed to show that you were dedicated enough to the franchise to buy an RTS about it (which I and thousands of other people still play and love) when all previous games had been FPS’. It kind of takes away from the whole idea of a medal if you can’t have your dedication shown by which games you’ve played and how much you’ve played them.

No. I, personally, think Halo Wars should have no involvement in any future activities or any rewards, etc. I play Halo because it’s a FPS. I hated Halo Wars SO much, I’d rather play Call of Duty, and you’ll rarely get that out of my mouth.
I’m a huge Halo fan but I think it’s stupid for Halo Wars to have any future involvement in anything.

Like it or not, Halo Wars was and is a part of the Halo universe, and a pretty important one at that. It is the best-selling console RTS game to date, which says something. Furthermore, it did a great job explaining some of the slightly confusing lore, while making up some of it’s own that fit right in. I can appreciate the fact that you play Halo because it’s an FPS, but there likely more people who play Halo simply because it’s Halo, which again, includes Halo Wars.
I agree they would need to be small icons. Looking at the profile box it seems even with one or two line posts in the right hand box there is enough room to easily fit 2 rows of 5 icons. So that would provide 10 slots easily.
This is a quick summary glance about a member/player which is always visible rather than having to go to a detailed service record. After all how many look at every member/poster service record? Hardly any at all really.

There isn’t anyone on the forums that has all four, and there’s a limited number of people with three for that matter. As far as I know, it’s just you, me, and AgentPaperCraft that have three/four medals. I’m sure there’s room for a fourth if anyone were to obtain all four, however I’d imagine it’d be placed underneath the previous three in a separate column.
Also, I love the idea of displaying your Halo Career Milestone under your avatar. I feel like it’s such an awesome display of your feats that doesn’t get enough credit. If not, perhaps a medal for those who have the maximum career milestone (all Halo achievements)? I certainly don’t have them all, however it’d be a wonderful display of time, effort, and dedication to the Halo franchise, not to mention it’s a feat a very small number of people have managed to accomplish.
> SNIP…however it’d be a wonderful display of time, effort, and dedication to the Halo franchise, not to mention it’s a feat a very small number of people have managed to accomplish.
That’s basically where the idea came from. How to show what you’ve achieved or done with your Halo games with your avatar.
Also how to automate forum medals that mean something to players and forum members alike.

Avoid bumping your posts so they get to the list of active threads. Threads die out after a while and while it sucks, you have to let it happen.
My opinion remains the same, we have 4 medals and in all honesty thats more than enough.

It can also get your thread locked. It happens to pretty much every thread. You just have to deal with it. (Yo! is the only exception. Yo! will never die.)

I think the Medal Ranking would look cooler the the words but other then that we don’t need the medals to be over done.
343idustries.org as everything you need if you want them there and you even get your own Picture signature. I’m cool with a Medal Pic rank but that’s it.
