New Form of Slayer

So was thinking what Halo Slayer needed to keep it fresh?

I was wondering and noticed we tried adding AA etc. Yet most of these effected the gameplay. Destructible environments are also not really Halo style.

But something i though of while thinking about slayer, was a changing map. These are effected by switches on the walls or certain places that anyone can activate. Not only that when they have been activated there is a time limit until it can be activated again.

Mainly these switches main job is to mainly move walls to in essence change the flow of the map, and how people approach the game. Mainly the walls move opening new routes while closing old ones. This first thing first keeps the balance the same as anyone can access them but at the same time add a new dynamic where one team has to think with the weapons they have and the enemy has how should they change the flow of the map. A game of chess.

Whats your thoughs?

Also what else do you think should be added to it?

I guess then you didn’t play much Halo 2 multiplayer. And mind you that’s not to be condescending in any way, Halo 2 did feature some destructible environment bits (certain walls, flanges, and glass) and it had interactive map elements (Zanzibar gate, Containment “drawbridge”). And I’d absolutely love to see BOTH return to Halo. It’s a shame where we are in terms of level design and gameplay because that place is Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knights (circa 1996) except when it comes to textures and polygon counts. Someone born when that game came out is just a year shy of buying their own M rated titles and in that time they haven’t really missed all that much. Same old online deathmatch and CTF in box canyons.

So -Yoink- yah we need some real innovation in the role the map plays in gameplay. Something certainly suited for Halo but I want my kids to have something better and more involving than this.

Yeah Halo does need some destructible environment in there for multiplayer maps again. In Halo 2 there was destructible environment type maps. But as time went by instead of adding more of this type of stuff we see less and less until its gone for good. I hate the maps we have today there just not fun to play on over and over again. Plus there not big enough. Halo in the past required team work because the maps were a certain size. But now 75% of the maps are easy to get across which makes people be a lone wolfs instead of a team.

There were also maps in H3 that had moving walls and doors and what not. Orbital and Longshore come to mind. (I hope I got that right, my memory on H3 is fuzzy sadly).
