Lets post some of our ideas for what could be added as a new Forerunner vehicle since we only have Phaetons, I’ve come up with two; 1.) Basilisk - Forerunner heavy vehicle that would be like a cross between a walker and a tank. The armor would be like the scorpions and would have an energy shield. Instead of legs it hovers like a wraith tank but a little faster (no boost but a short dash ability maybe?). It would have two weapons operated by the driver like the mantis, one being an energy beam maybe like the sentinel beam (but a little stronger) for infantry. The second would be the same launcher as you get on the phaeton maybe. Fires six missile like energy projectiles that are good for taking out vehicles. I would say level 7 at minimum. Any ideas on this? and 2.) Chimera - Forerunner equivalent of a warthog or spectre. This vehicle also hovers and it’s armor should be about the same as the warthog. A seat for a driver and a back seat for a gunner, maybe a third for a passenger?. It also hovers like the spectre did with about the same speed and maybe a boost? The weapon the gunner operates could be a splinter turret or a heavy version of the supressor maybe? Maybe a variant for each. Suppressor-like turret would be unlocked level 2-3 and would be standard. The other would be a higher req and carrying a splinter turret (maybe 3-4th level) with a different name, or maybe something like Chimera Alpha or something. Any ideas to make these vehicles better? Or maybe something different entirely?
Great ideas.
Thanks, im thinking the Chimera should have same armor as a regular warthog, with maybe a light energy shield to make it just a little more durable

Wow, great concepts! Play with armor, armament and mobility in test environment - this would be FUN!
That sounds good, especially the basilisk
It would be great if the standard variant of each was in Forge. Clicking on Forerunner Vehicles in the menu and getting just the phaeton can be lame lol
What about a drivable Forerunner War Sphinx?
I thought about that with the War Sphinx but from the description they are fairly large, and apparently have weapons that can raise buildings pretty quickly (a small swarm can destroy city) I think it would be another air vehicle too.

Ah ok, I figured that they were relatively small because in Cryptum it said that there was just enough space inside to fit a Warrior-Servant.
These are great ideas, but they seem kind of overly powerful. I’d understand if they had higher REQ costs, but then people who can’t get kills (like me
) can’t get the vehicles. The Basilisk: Scorpion armor with an energy shield, faster than a Wraith, which is faster than a Scorpion, with twin weapons like a Mantis: Energy beam and rocket pod. What would they fire? Forerunner turret beams? Splinter Turret shells? Phaeton missiles? Seems like a vehicle which definitely rival the ONI Mantis and the Wraith Ultra, maybe even beat both at once. And for seven REQs, while the ONI Mantis is nine and the Wraith Ultra is eight (I think? Never used one). It would totally unbalance Warzone, unbalanced as it already is.
The Chimera sounds a little better balanced, maybe a little to much. The Splinter turret has bullet dropoff, which you’d have to compensate for, just like a Wraith’s mortar. If I had to choose between the Turret and the Heavy Suppressor, I’d definitely go with the Suppressor, even though it is -Yoink-. Unless it was very close to mid range, which is the Splinter’s niche, it would be pointless to fire, as it also takes time to travel. Now ONI Warthog vs Chimera Alpha vs Ghost Ultra both the Warthog and the Ghost would probably kick the Chimera’s -Yoink-.
Just my thoughts.

And thoughts help! Good point about the armor on the Basilisk. Maybe something closer to wraith armor. The shield, like the Chimera’s could be just a light shield. Enough to absorb a few hits as a kind of warning to move. The beam weapon would be like sentinel beam but maybe a little stronger, cus I never thought the old one was that good. And yes the “missiles” would be the ones the phaeton fires. Or we could come up with something different even, we could put a heavy suppressor for anti-infantry and use a heavy version of a sentinel beam thats good against armor. It shouldn’t be overly powerful though, just enough to contend with the scorpion’s cannon. And the weapons should have overheat so your not sitting their beaming away at bases and what not lol.

Never used before but if halopedia is accurate a War Sphinx is about 20 meters in length and 10 meters in height while a scorpion is about 10 meters in length (33ish feet) and about 4.4 in height (14 feet). Would be hard to miss that sucker in Warzone lol :D. Althought a smaller version of it, maybe called a Battle Sphinx? Could be a little bigger than a ghost and serve the same role as a fast attack vehicle.
A mecanical giant centipede would be awesome!
I think for a “light” vehicle it should be similar to the ghost, light armor but a more block like shape, little armor on the sides or back, a little faster than a ghost travels without boost, can spin in place very quickly, weapons should be a single beam weapon, like the sentient beams from older games, controlled by aiming, would need to turn the vehicle when aiming side to side, but you have some vertical control.
Instead of a boost it would have a jetpack type jump ability, not to high, maybe enough to go from ground onto the main level of the spire, moves fairly quickly with a slow recharge.
Not sure on a Heavy, but I feel like the forerunner vehicles should be able to do something unique, they should be able to combine to create something more powerful. For example, my light vehicle can be connected to the underside of the phaeton, connection would be controlled by the light vehicle to prevent trolling. Phaeton can move a little quicker and can take a few more hits due to the extra power but loses the boost ability, when connected the light vehicle has control over their normal weapon with a 135 degree range side to side but can aim straight down to slightly higher than the Phaeton. No change in rate of fire or fire power. When connected the light vehicle driver is still visible and could be snipped, leaving the vehicles connected until destroyed or someone else gets in the light vehicle to disconnect.
Can disconnect at anytime, would consume the Jump ability if they were mid flight to have a safe landing.

That’s definately an interesting idea. Would be something new, Chimera attaches to Basilisk to create…hover tank side-car! lol

Sounds like the Serapede from Gears got into the steroids warehouse again. Lol. On the other hand a insect shaped vehicle would be pretty cool.
I’ve wanted a warthog version from the Prometheus for a while now, it is my favourite vehicle after all !
Also a returning spectre would be nice, pls 343

Like a Prometheus version of the wolverine or other vehicles limited just to Halo Wars!? (Wink wink nudge nudge 343, give us these exclusive vehicles)

Yeah that sounds much better thanks for the clarification. Personally I think if we’re to implement these, the names are great. It goes with theme: UNSC: Animal (Cobra, Vulture, Sparrowhawk, Warthog, etc.) Covenant: Spirits/Religion (Ghost, Wraith, Revenant, an actual Spirit XD, etc.) and the Forerunners can be mythical beasts! (Basilisk, Chimera, is Phaeton a thing? I’ve only done Greek, Roman, and Norse mythologies sorry)
