Does anyone have any guesses as to what the new threat could be?
My guess is a rouge Promethean, or the remnants of one. Even with stasis he couldn’t have survived for 100,000 years… probably. I only say this because the enemies are named Promethean ________ (fill in the blank). Maybe some Offensive Bias slapped in there too. That said, the symbol is only close to that of Offensive. Similar to how The librarian’s and the Didact’s symbols are close. WHO KNOWS? Speculating is fun.
It’s the didact’s symbol. I myself thought it was something else too but then I realized it was just upside down.
It could be upside down because there are two Didacts?
The one we think was killed by the master builder and bornstiller who went on to become the new Didact.

The same but altered? That doesn’t even make sense, those are 2 similarly shaped but completely different symbols. There’s no blackout in the center field of the video’s symbol which is clearly there in the didacts symbol

Things are subject to change and they look very similar so the best idea we have is that they are the same symbol.

Um no, chiefs armor is a graphical and canonical update.
There is absolutely no reason for the Didacts symbol to be changed when we only see it in the terminals. This symbol is orange and inverted seeing how in forerunner “writing” there are higher dimensional interpretations and color coding this could be a very big deal.
It’s similar enough that it could be didacts, it’s dissimilar enough that it could be someone elses. For example, the master builder never had a symbol assigned.
I suppose we’ll find out.

That’s hardly conclusive at all. There are many differences between this symbol and this symbol but they’re both still the same. The only difference is time as the first one is from the late 23rd century and the other is from the late 24th.
The Old Didact symbol was seen in transmissions dating back 100,000 years ago. How can we conclusively say they’re not the same when for all we know the new one could simply be an updated version of the 100,000 year old one?

The thing is, this is all fiction coming out of frankies head. So the symbol is probably slighty different for a reason, the same way as the didact is pretty different by now than what we thought at the end of H3. Frankie has clearly stated that from now on, no detail is random, everything is connected and meaningful.
So in the old symbol, the glyph is floating inside the sphere, inside its embrace, which could be the original didact inside erde tyrene cryptum, as when Born found him.
The new symbol, the “arms” are now connected to the inside of the sphere, as if in contact with it, actively controlling it now perhaps? The mystery sphere from the E3 trailer? Maybe. The middle part of the symbol now being filled in, im not so sure what to infer from. Perhaps indicates that something has also changed within the didact himself? He is more complete, has more purpose maybe, compared to the time he was forced into exile in a cryptum by faber, and then embarrassingly captured and killed by him again. He certainly seemed to move with purpose and have important errands to run in the E3 trailer considering the speed which he shot off at, if that was him in the cryptum.
I couldnt make any deeper observations than that though.
But why change his designation now? I’m still not sure whether or not it’s the Didacts logo, but for it to be different from the Maw terminal in Anniversary, not to mention flipped upside down, has to have some meaning.
I think that Didact may simply have gone insane over 100,000 years of stasis. His symbol is now red and upside down. For me the colour red reminds me of rampancy in Forerunner AI, perhaps the colour is simply a warning to others that something is wrong. This applies to Didacts symbol too.
Maybe he’s simply lost his marbles. Surely H4 can’t be about defeating Didact, we must surely be aiming to help him recover his sanity as he is after all one of the “good guys”.
