I was talking to a few friends the other day about how we aren’t big fans of how you have a permanent flag indicator on you when you pick up the flag. Although on one hand we dislike it we do understand that it was needed for general matchmaking and I think its not so bad in 4v4 maps for when your playing solo, your team can at least flow in the right direction.
The one place where I find it to be a lame feature is in BTB as it eliminates any sneaky play with the flag and all you can do is run and hope your team covers you properly. What we were thinking is instead of having an indicator over your head. (Remember this is just an idea to give people the gist of what I’m explaining, how its implemented could vary). They could split the map into 3 sections so 1/3 is your base area, another 1/3 in the center area say a neutral zone and then the last 1/3 is there base area. How these zones are shown to players could vary, one idea could be to have a strip of lights across the floor of the maps or something better just as long as you can identify each 1/3 of the map. So now that part is established back to the flag indicators.
Now when you pick up the flag instead of having an indicator over your head the enemy team has a marker on there screen telling them which zone your in. I feel this would allow for more deeper game play again for better players while not leaving new players to the game or playlist completely clueless to whats going on or where you are.
Would be interested to hear what people think as its part way between previous halos just telling you your flag is taken to halo 4 with a permanent icon.
