New features- how they CAN work

Loadouts- From what I’m getting, you choose a mid-tier weapon (AR, BR, DMR, hopefully-not-but-possibly Shotgun) and a sidearm (magnum, plasma pistol, new additions), as well as whatever kind of grenade you want. Power weapons, like Rockets and Snipers, are gotten from spawns on the map- thats what people fight for. How often do you see people claw at each others throats for a plasma rifle? AAs are the same as Reach, you just choose SPECIFICALLY from the whole list, rather than omitting two. Who knows, you might also get only one loadout per game.

Random weapon spawns- Control of certain weapons has been a pivotal point to the series. This changes the system so people don’t just sit on the sniper spawn the whole time. This can change strategy, but learning and controlling the drop points is still important.

Instant spawn- This feature does concern me. For being more like other games, Halo 4 (possibly, we aren’t entirely sure yet) fails to realize that even CoD has spawn timers for objective game modes. That said, Coming across the person you just killed before your shields recharge is highly unlikely. The maps are either spread out enough so that they have to trek across the map to find you, or are tight enough together that you’ll come across another player on their team first.

Spartan points- Give us few options of game-changing factors to select from, and make them cheap, so that newer players can get them faster. Then make us spend them on armor so our Spartan IV can look pretty. And change the name (which is entirely possible- Warhouse isn’t even the final name of that map yet)

Spartan Ops- Change the name. Seriously.

Sprint- It was MADE so you can escape death. If they’re running away from you, chase after them- you can sprint too. If you’re a sniper, just wait on a new target- you’re probably not in any immediate danger, and if you are, focus on that.

X-Ray vision- Make it basically a solid blue screen that shows nothing but outlines of enemies, like VISR, that lasts for a short time and has a long recharge.

Jet Pack- Give it not real jet pack capabilities, but rather, it gives you a small boost on your jumps to make them a little higher and floatier, like Dark Troopers in Star Wars Battlefront.

If you’ll just open your mind, step back, and think for a moment, rather than just blindly attack everything, you may realize that these are different, but that doesn’t mean bad. If it does copy from Reach, who says they won’t try to fix it?

Thank you!!! I’ve found my clone!!!

Loadout- will only “work” if you can only choose AR,DMR,or BR. If you can choose a sniper or shotty or even LULZ a jackhammer…fail.

Random weapon spawns- I don’t think it’s actually random spawning, I think what they meant is that mid-match, the UNSC launches a container that lands with a weapon in it, much like the capsules you see in high ground. The weapon launch is announced to everyone in the match so teams can rush to get it before the other.

Spartan points- blah blah blah, as long as it has a style like or even more deep than halo 3’s truskill/ranking/match making, I’ll be fine.

Insta spawn- I don’t know…I just do not know how this will work. I…yeah I dunno. If there are preset spawn places where you respawn EVERYTIME, that will open the ugly door of spawn camping. (See MGO)

AA- IMO the ONLY way AA can work is if there is a real pay off to using them. If using them causes your MJONIR armor to draw on your shields, then having someone spawn with active cam probably won’t be too much of an issue. Idiots with jetpack won’t instantly think “derp derp i’m gonna fly straight up in the middle of a gun fight while spraying and throwing all my grenades!”

UNSC Infinity Ward. Pass it on.

NEW FEATURES! HOW WE SHOULD WAIT TILL 343 ACTUALLY TELLS US HOW THEY WORK BEFORE WE CRITICIZE THEM!

Seriously, wait for context and clarification before these threads about how they should work arise

Someone who sees eye to eye with me!

LOOK AT SCREEN, SEE WORDS, SOUND THEM OUT, COMPREHEND.

Seriously, read the subject title and the post before you come in feeling superior and clever.

nice post. i have similar thoughts on all this

I have a feeling random weapon spawns are going to be like weapon drops in firefight. Like you’ll see a notification and then everyone rushes towards the weapon pod. In theory it makes for a hectic race for who gets to the weapon first/who fights off everyone else. Sounds fun like this, but also breaks map control since everyone will leave their position to secure the weapon.

I agree with every word.

Bungie had some great ideas for Halo Reach but, failed to capitalize on those ideas because they were completely unbalanced and the map layouts were not designed with those abilities in mind.

I believe that 343i has taken some of those ideas, tweaked them, dissected them, and found what really works best with these new features and how they fit into the balanced, fast-paced, core gameplay of Halo.

I’m remaining hopeful until I actually play the game.

depends, since I’m utterly terrible with the jackhammer and the sniper, I likely won’t be rushing to get it. If anything I’ll pepper the enemy from a far.

Id rather wait for 343’s description of how they work. They dont look at this forum for dev tips lol. They will fine tune and make changes to them based on the testing they will be doing over the months. Behavior patterns, habbits, broken trends etc etc.

Anyway it was definitely a mistake to even post here since your dead set on thinking your post makes any difference in 343’s process of fine tuning.

You can reply to this but i wont be checking back so you will just be talking to yourself. Just thought id let you know so you can save yourself the trouble

Yeah you’re very mature aren’t you. People are speculating, not telling them how to make the game. Once again…READ…COMPREHEND.

I think OP is closer to the truth then 95% of all the other threads I’ve read, then again OP uses a good portion of this mysterious gift handed out by the Gods to a few gifted, choose ones, it’s called common sense.
The only concern I might agree with is zero spawn time in objectives, then again no one knows if there will be such an issue, or if objective game modes have a 5-10 second respawn. It sure would make 2 flag CTF a lot harder, but that might not be a bad thing ^^
Since you (often) kill or get killed somewhere close to the middle of the map I can’t see how anyone you killed could get rewenge within seconds, since they’ll probably spawn close to their base.
