So ever since I found out about the Mech in the middle of Adrift, I thought for certain we were gonna drive that. In fact, I wanted it so badly. Then we see the Mantis and find out it was exclusive to Single Player only.
I was sad, I was looking forward to a fun game mode in my eyes that I would play with friends. But now, that game mode can come true!!
Game Rules:
Each team starts off in a hangar bay on opposite ends of one of the Forge World-like maps 343 has made, 5 vs 5, everyone piles into the Mantis’ of their team and go out of the hangar bay to begin the battle, which ever team gets the most kills wins!
Rule 1:
No getting out of your Mantis (Similar to Rocket Hogs in that aspect)
Rule 2:
No Spawn Camping (Be a sporting player to your enemy team on both sides!)
This may just be something me and my friends do, but all the same, I’M GONNA LOVE THIS FRICKIN MODE!!! (Side Note: In Forge/Custom Games, please 343, give us multiple Mantis’ to spawn rather than a limited amount)
I plan on making a Mech Assault gametype on day 1 for sure. Probably 3 Mantises on each side, along with a Falcon(if it returns). Players only have a sticky launcher(it’s the closest thing to the charges the player has in MA2) and die faster than usual unless they are in a vehicle.
An Invincible Mantis Mech spawns in the middle of the map, there is a mad dash to reach it. Once inside, you gain points for your team slowly. While the Mech itself cannot be destroyed, you can take enough damage to be killed inside it, allowing someone else in.
This is literally just King of the Hill with the Mantis using the ‘Hill’ label, something easily done in Forge (and can be done with other stuff, I might add).
If that doesn’t suit you, 3 Mech, a variant of 3 Ball (which is a variant of Oddball) with three mechs randomly being spawned on the map. Using the mech grants your team points.
If Race is still in Halo 4, Mech Wars is possible. If you set the starting vehicle to the Mantis, everyone will spawn inside one. By editing the gametype’s settings in Forge, you can make it so the game counts kills as points. All that’s left to do is put the racing checkpoint somewhere unreachable in Forge, so the only way to win is to try and kill the enemy mechs.
Forge made UNSC Mantis Hangar’s one each side of the map, Plays mount up and head out of the shielded area, meeting the enemy head on, mech vs mech, in a forged urban city structure or Mech arena.
