New DLC = reinstall full game again

Same issue again on original xbox one. Went to install dlc, dashboard says 9gb update, update stuck at update, nothing happening after 5 mins, no downloading. Ended up having to do a full reboot, just to find that i need to redownload the full game again, 29gb.

As much as i like my dlc, i don’t enjoy having to redownload my game everytime.

Should’ve waited it out. Ske7ch made a post exactly addressing this.

Ske7ch said don’t full reboot let it sit for a bit and it will install.

I ended up having no choice but to reboot as literally NOTHING was working after attempting the download. Why does this happen every single patch…

This is all on you guys. If you would’ve just waited it out you wouldn’t have to download the full game again. Please read the forums…

Weve already got plenty of these threads. I’m sure this will be locked soon.

Sorry never read the patch notes. But i shouldn’t have to. How many people go onto every forum, for every game they own, to see if it is ok to play without having to reinstall their game.

Plus all my games are on my external hdd, it flashes when it is downloading. There was no flashing for the 5 mins i was waiting for the update to commence. Switched my console of to leave it in standby. Tried to switch it back on again and it wont switch on. Had to do a hard reset to switch my console on.

It would be brilliant if we could get the basics done correctly, what is the issues with adding dlc, everytime i have to redownload the full game.

To be fair, posting on their forums is probably the best way to get word out about it. I don’t think it’s fair to say “it’s on you” if you haven’t read it.

That said, this isn’t an issue unique to 343, other games have had the issue and the problem lies with Xbox Marketplace. Fortunately they’re working on a fix.

Hey Highland Mcb,

I understand your frustration as you shouldn’t have to do this, but as is right now - the process requires you to wait for the download to complete. I’m sitting on 190 MB/S speed and I too was stuck at 0% and had to wait. However, with the title it has been well publicized to wait otherwise you will corrupt the game file should you cancel the download.

I started the download today along with the rest of the people who were downloading it and I left my Xbox to start and it was stuck at 0% downloading for roughly 35 minutes. But, because I left it - it did inevitably download the update. The problem is that even though the download says it is at 0% it has already begun the process of re-writing your package.

It is my understanding that if you did this for any game you would have this issue as well.

So - I get your frustration and agree that no, you shouldn’t have to go through this, but you have a few times and there is a very non-perfect solution to it which is to wait. So I would say that now that you do know, should the same thing happen in the future - just simply do not cancel the download and go grab some coffee/beer/juice/take a nap and just wait for the download to complete as it will eventually do it. I don’t know what else to say, but just don’t cancel it and you won’t have to go through the pain of downloading the entire game again.

5 minutes… You can’t wait more than 5 minutes?

Have some patience… No you shouldn’t have to read patch notes, but you also shouldn’t expect a patch do download in a short amount of time. If you had the same problem the previous times, why would you do the same thing again.

Like I said in another post (which you should have searched for before starting a whole new one) mine was stuck at 0% for 30 minutes and then jumped to 70% within 45 mintues…

Edit: Referring to last patch/update, not this one.

Hi, I’ve got the same issue. I just got Halo Wars 2 a couple of days ago, Played the first seven campaign missions today. I went out came back and tried to boot the game and now I have to download a 29.24 patch after my console crashed when the game wouldn’t boot up!

This is so annoying! So I went online and found this to see whats up with the game, This is the first time I’ve gone online to investigate a massive update! This sucks so hard - I wanted to play the game but its just turned me off now. I am not really into the multiplayer, just wanted to play the game for the story as I am a big Halo fan and played every Halo game todate!

Yeah, no. I’m not taking fault for the fact that I turned my console off because I had other things to do and the patch auto-downloaded, or the fact that I don’t obsessively check forums to make sure an issue that hasn’t happened with any other game and I had no reason to expect would happen, happens.

I mean… Who really thinks it’s a good idea to turn off your Xbox/PC when you’re in the middle of downloading… Or stuck at 0% and not trying to do some sort of trouble shooting… Or looking in the forums for the game first…

Don’t shoot the messanger or anything…

Had this issue as well, however when is “pauses” at the start of the download it seems like it locks up the hard drive as I can’t start any other app/game. It give an error that it took too long, a reboot is the only way to fix that.

Yep the Updating progress for Halo Wars 2 is broken. It breaks the entire XboxOne OS which is ridiclious.

Me and a friend had to reboot our consoles because nothing was working after an HOUR of nothing happening.

There is nothing wrong with shutting down your console while downloading a patch. But the updater for Halo Wars 2 is so broken that it breaks the entire XboxOne OS. Nothing will start anymore.

Literally left mine on for 30-45 mins last update, twice as long as it would take to update a normal game, and no progress, its unacceptable really that they have never fixed this properly either on 343 or microsofts side

It’s common sense buddy… Get a grip. What makes you think it’s a good idea to turn off something in the middle of a update. Cmon man, think a lil and wait for the download like the rest of us.

Games have website forums for a reason as well

I don’t like leaving electronic running while I leave to go to work. It’s a fire hazard and wastes electricity. If these pieces of -Yoink- updates they keep forcing on us had an OPTION whether or not to download them, and without downloading multiplayer would be unavailable, then I would be fine. But not when they just start without my permission.

Plus, some of us aren’t tech savvy. I’m used to PlayStation 1 and 2 games where you didn’t have to worry about updates and you could turn the game off whenever you needed.

Yeah, I have the same issue. The difference is I don’t get any option to “just wait”. I will turn my console on from instant on mode to find 32gb of downloading needing to be done.

Killing my data cap.
