New Damage System with Vehicle question/concern

i like the idea of vehicles getting damaged in different parts of the vehicle thus making the vehicle drive different

But my question is how differently? Is destroying a tire on a warthog going to leave it as useless as just blowing one up? How many wheels do I have to shoot to get it to stop. Can you even force a full stop on a moving vehicle

Are people just going to be able to snipe at my vehicles wheels from across the map, therefore leaving my vehicle useless before even getting to the battle?

i feel like there isn’t enough clarity on this particular topic, vehicle gameplay is super important to me and if I can disable enemy vehicles before they can get close to me then what’s the point of damage to different parts of the body? Why not just make the vehicle blow up once the wheels fall off?

Even if they can’t move, being a turret for powerful weapons with infinite ammo isn’t to be ignored.

That immobile “Infinite turret” is just going to act as a magnet for grenades

I’m curious how it’s going to work if the Mantis is in and we can focus all of our fire on one of its legs. Like, does it topple but can still shoot? Or does taking out a leg count as “destroying” it?

I was literally thinking the same thing, does destroying both legs initiate the timer for blowing it up? As soon as a vehicle becomes immobile it just gets pelted with grenades(as it should)

I really like the new vehicle idea, it sounds great! But, like on paper…I agree with you, if the enemy can simply snipe out the tires and cause the vehicle to stop it’s gonna make it frustrating and turn people who love using the vehicles like the warthogs from playing multiplayer. Maybe if there’s some like armor in the tires that call for multiple shots from an enemy player to cause the tires to break that will be a better idea.

Worst case scenario would be a game where you have to build a specific build that keeps the vehicles alive long enough to acquire some kills but after you hop out your spartan is putty

id really like some more clarification on vehicles

I think we’ll just have to wait for 343 to reveal more about the system. Right now everything we could guess at is just speculation. Hopefully it will be deeper than just being able to immobilize vehicles.

Wasn’t Turn 10 helping with the driving dynamics?

I don’t think this system will affect the game in too drastic of ways. You won’t be stopping a warthog in it’s tracks or making a wasp spin out of control. It’s probably going to be much smaller than that.

Pop a wheel on a hog? Less stability, harder to control. Possibly slower but not stopped.

Shoot the engine of a ghost? Boosting will lean to the side a bit. Probably slower.

All those new armored sections of banished vehicles? Shoot them enough and you reveal the less armored stuff underneath. Make it easier to kill.

I doubt we will see anything that disables are effectively stops a vehicles.
