New CTF Gametype Idea for Halo 5

A flag game type

Each side has 3 flags in different areas.
Score limit is 5.

Now the good stuff
When a flag is taken and captured, the taken flag does not respwan.(leaving them with only 2(or 1 or 0))
The team that captured a flag gets a point and if they had one of their flags captured,(meaning it has not respawned back at its spot) it would respwan.
There are 2 ways to win, either reach the score limit (5 for now) or capture all of the enemy flags leaving them with 0 out of their 3.

I believe his would enjoyable gametype that would promote defense, offense, and have multiple ways to play/ strategies.

What do you think?

Didn’t Bungie have something similar to this in Reach?

The only difference was the flags were all neutral so you were just grabbing as many flags as possible. I forget what gametype it was actually called, but it was fun. This seems like a cool twist on that concept, unless I’m misunderstanding something.

Also I think having 3 flag spawns per team would be a little much on most maps besides BTB maps. IDK though.

Sounds really fun but I don’t think it should be a standalone gametype. I think I would prefer if CTF can be altered to make this. I would love to see this in matchmaking however.

Why would you rather not have it as a standalone gametype?

It is too similar to CTF, and assuming commendations return I would like to earn CTF commendations while playing this. Not to mention, all the custom options that would be made available to create gametypes half way between this and normal CTF.

It would be somewhat redundant to have 2 standalone CTF gametypes. It would be like having Assault and Ricochet in the same game. While this scenario is better than what we currently have, it is completely redundant and can be achieved in a better way by using custom options.

but we don’t know if commendations are coming back.

I like the idea of multi-point CTF but I’d prefer things are kept to 1 or 2 flag style for team work and parties vs randoms reasoning. However I like the core idea you have but I’d prefer to extend into the Reach invasion style ideas.

Stage 1 - Something like attack a stronghold to open up map access through a gate switch.

Stage 2 - Bomb run a inner sanctum area of the previous stronghold.

Stage 3 - Capture and escape with the flag or device to an extraction point.

I could see this working for 5v5 or BTB or even larger. Assigning squads to various roles where a leader highlights waypoints for their squad members etc. I just feel simplicity has to be key and when you’re looking at the OP idea having 3 simultaneous objectives seems overkill.

I like the idea, but I don’t know if I like to play it.

Yes it definitely could be mixed with another gametype
