New Covenant weapon firing?

Ok guys, check this gif:

It’s from that theatrical trailer.

Now aside from the beautiful alien environment, the pelican and the storm rifle/ghost firing. You can also see bolt being fired at the pelican, now these bolts don’t look like any Covie weapons plasma bolts as this ones are brownish/white in color.

Now do you know any Covie weapon in Halo 4 firing these brownish/white bolts? I don’t think so.

Which makes me think it’s a new Covenant weapon, also not how we can’t see who is firing as these shots are coming from the rock.

It could always be promethean though, but Covenant is more likely as you can see a phantom and blue plasma bolts( covenant controlled environment)

If this is indeed a new Covie weapon, then the 10 new weapons numbers are wrong and it’s actually more then that.

So what do you guys think?
New Covie weapon?
New Covie vehicle?
Promethean in origin?

I’m thinking that it’s something Forerunner, hence why we don’t get to see what’s actually shooting those bolts.

Looks like a plasma launcher.

I was gonna say shade but only 3 shots were fired. It wasn’t a continuos stream of plasma bolts.

Interesting…it looks like a Concussion Rifle to me.

It has to be Covenant weaponry - whatever’s firing it is ignoring/being ignored by the Phantom. Also, if you look towards the bottom left you’ll see an infantry unit move and fire the same projectiles. IMO it looks like an Elite or a Brute but it’s too small to see clearly.

Edit: if you look closely you can see that a plasma grenade has been thrown at the pelican, probably by the unknown infantry unit I described above.

I thought the same thing at first. But I inspected it a bit and I’m certain that’s a grunt.

I thought at first that it might be the concussion rifle or the brute shot but the shots aren’t arcing. Excellent find!

Actually, I can see that now. Short, stocky with huge forearms and a large canister on its back.
