I know this may seem like a troll topic but what would you think about a new Feline based covenant species? I mean is it really that crazy of an idea? We have reptilian (elites), avian (jackals and skirmishers up till Halo 4), we have bugs, even apes. I was thinking this earlier as I looked at my cat, I know a bit odd of an idea. But I just think it would be kinda cool.

Technically we have 11 different alien races we’ve seen or interacted with. i would like to see more aliens whether friendly or enemy. I think it would be cool to see an alien that walks on all fours rather than stands up right like a human, and is sentient, i don’t think that’s been done in halo yet.

I still want to see how they would be in-game.
Since the Covenant is now gone, again (hopefully for good), this feline alien species wouldn’t be part of the Covenant. Unless 343i reverses their “we killed the Covenant” plot point from the Battle of Sunaion.

Honestly a part of me would loves seeing more Covenant but we all know that they basically obliterated them in Halo 5. Most of the Prophets are missing or dead, Jul was assassinated, their High charity destroyed, and Sunion got wrecked from the Guardian entering Slipspace. Right now there is no chance for them to make a come back without a leader in command or more resources.
The resurgence of ancient Forerunner forces might be enough for Covenant to align with them for religious reasons. That’s how Jul’s Covenant worked.
I don’t know if Cortana could be able to “tame” the Covenant into being her pawns. But there’s also the Didact, who was made a digital essence. Either way, there’s still room for Covenant forces to exist, that’s the whole point of the “remnants” (though it’s not a proper name, it’s been mentioned many times, for example in Escalation).
There are so many warlords, you don’t know what can happen. I remember there’s also Luro 'Taralumee, the Supreme Commander from Halo Legends, who is still around with some forces, during the post-war era.
If some Covenant can ally with insurrectionists, then I’m sure many would join Cortana…

Yes there was evidence of the remnant faction Keepers of One Freedom allied with humans in Last Light.
I think a feline covenant would be a great idea. There could be a mission in Halo 6 where you have to navigate through kitt litter minefield. and their weapons shoot out feathers and mouse cat toys.
Spartans are also equipped with cat nip for an easy get away
