In case anybody hasn’t noticed, new commendations have been added to Halo 5, which consist of Grunt Mech Destroyer, sentinel beam, gravity hammer, plasma rifle, and grenade launcher mastery, and Wasp Destroyer and Gunner. This raises some complaints for me, like why they didn’t add in the Wasp Destroyer back when it first came out, when everybody was using it, and Plasma Rifle Mastery, which would have people running around trying to kill people with plasma rifles(minus Scale of Soirapt) which was never meant to be done, similar to the plasma pistol commendation in Halo 4.
Also, I’m sure they record how many kills I’ve gotten with these weapons and vehicles and how many times I’ve killed these vehicles, so it’s only fair they should have implemented these records into the unfinished commendations, so I might not be constantly desperate to destroy hard-to-find UNSC vehicles. It was hard enough with the warthogs, and is still hard with the mongeese, so don’t add wasps to my list of near-impossibilities!
The new commendations are good, except that Grunt Mech slayer is going to take a long time to complete since you need to be the one to get the final shot in.
i can see both sides of the argument here, on one hand it is frustrating to have to start at 0 when we all have a lot of these already done. and i do want to have credit for what i have completed, because the destroyers commendations are very time consuming because they aren’t the easiest to get. and when someone is in the vehicle you need, everyone else needs it too. so you’re fighting everyone else to get the kill shot.
on the other had it is kind of fun to start at 0 and work through them. gives me something to focus on again. but i know that i will get frustrated as my journey to complete them goes on. either way it is something that we can change and credit to 343 for not doing the right thing in adding them into the game when they released them originally

I agree. It would be nice to have my previous kills count towards these, but the grind is why I play Halo in the first place so it will still be fun to get them like I did with all the previous commendations. I do wish they came out with the actual reqs and enemy that they are for though.
I’m sure the reason they rolled it out this way was to encourage the slowing player-base to continue playing the game actively… which absolutely works for me personally. I love having the new comms to grind. Coupled with Oddball’s return (my 2nd favorite game mode) and I’ll back in with Halo 5 wholeheartedly (I had started playing other games in my spare time prior to this update). I’m on a family vacation currently but once I return, non-stop Halo-fest! Though I agree that some comms they probably could have taken my progress currently and applied it. Would certainly help with those Grunt Mechs! Plasma rifle and sentinel beam being at 0 is about right for me, I never use those terrible guns unless forced to (for example, by new comms!). I’m confident I’d have Wasp Killer long since done though. With a decent number destroyed as well.
I only wish they’d added Oddball comms as well… I’d be playing that non-stop!

Oddball commendations would have been perfect. Only reason I’m not playing oddball right now is because I’m working on the other commendations in WZ first.
I have achieved 30 wasp kill medals before this update came out, and since level one only requires killing 3, I should be some where in level 4-5. I demand recognition for killing them before it was required!
