New classic gametype coming at the end of February

It’s been pretty incredible seeing what the Forge community has been able to build so quickly with the new toolset and we want to showcase some of those creations. As Bravo has hinted, we’re also working on some new classic game types. We’re hoping to release the first of those toward the end of February, testing permitting.

HYPE.

“playlist” Great, more mixed bags. Sorry, but I don’t like playlists. I prefer being able to pick one gametype. If none of the new or classic things will be on their own, unfortunately I still won’t get to play them, lol.

Hype indeed. Thanks for spreading the word.

The February update better have more than 1 new game mode or people are gonna start lighting their games on fire. I love the way Halo 5 turned out but the lack of game modes is really starting to hurt the game. Hopefully with Greenskull calling them out on Twitter they wake up a little.

100% agree. most of the time I just wanna play Slayer and not CTF or Strongholds.

I think you’re thinking of two different things?

The first part of the quote is talking about a community playlist filled with classic maps from previous games.
The second part of the quote is talking about a classic gametype returning.

took 'em long enough

Holy awesome

I wonder what the settings will be like.

I hope we get Scootin Scorpions back. That was the best.

This is is the line that stuck out to me most. Not sure how to feel about that…

Either way, it will be nice to have a classic gametypes back, yay!

Playlists usually have more than one gametype in them though. that is my issue.every weekend playlists aside from the rocket party one have all been mixed bags of maps and gametypes. if it was a mix of CTF and infection and griffball, I would be fine with that. I hate most other game modes, except if they had certain criteria, which they never do outside of custom games, lol.

HYPE indeed

Looks like they are gonna release a bunch of gametypes next month.

That’s because standalone playlists failed miserably in Halo 4.

Well obviously a classic playlist will have to use forged maps. Classic settings wouldn’t work on the dev created maps which are made for sprint and clamber.

Hopefully not BR starts on Halo 2 maps.

Nope? Just one.

“Halo 3 Hardcore” Playlist please  lol

Wait

He didn’t say there will be a classic playlist.

He said there will be a community maps playlist

and

A classic gametpye

Well, there goes my hype. i thought he said a community playlist that will use classic settings.

I hope they bring back their iteration of Oddball. Being able to throw the ball was a really, really fun tweak on the gametype.
