New Campaign Hit Marker Design Is Ugly

Based on the new footage today, I have to say I have come around on the art style of Halo 5 (despite being a little disappointed with the lack of variety from the multiplayer maps).

That being said, what the hell is with the new hit marker? I have to say I strongly dislike the fat, slow-moving red design. I found it distracting throughout the entire video. Maybe I’m alone in this, but I really hope they are redesigned before launch to match the design in multiplayer.

I played Halo 5. It’s barely noticeable in the heat of combat.

The new hit marker design is beautiful and focusing.

Yeah I noticed it, too. It’s not that big of a deal for me but I could do without it.

I’m not crazy about it for campaign, though I confess to using both hitsounds and hitmarkers in online multiplayer games that support them. It would be nice if we could toggle it, but it’s probably too late now.

The campaign or the beta? I seem to recall the beta hitmarkers being similar to Halo 4’s?

Warzone

I see you have participated in the beta. The hit marker you call “fat, slow-moving red design” was in the beta. How come you didnt -Yoink- about back then? Troll.

The hit marker in warzone and the hit marker in campaign are different.

Are you really getting angry over a HITMARKER?

It’s not the same hit marker. Watch the video again. It’s notably different.

Seeing as how I have played the beta, calling me a troll is basically moot.

Lemme check.

I’m not angry. I just think it’s ugly and somewhat distracting. I’m hoping for a similar hit marker used in multiplayer to be in the campaign. The hit marker in the footage literally looks like something coming off of the target you are shooting at. It’s way too big and slow.

Not you, mate  Was talking to Specialist.

I didn’t notice them when I watched before but now that you mention it, it is a bit funky.

Back on the subject though, I personally can’t really notice the hitmarker in Campaign unless I’m actively looking for it. And you were right, the hitmarkers are different in Campaign vs. Warzone. I assume in the final game they’ll all be the same, for consistency’s sake. Maybe the campaign footage we saw was an older build?

Yeah, at some points it’s not noticeable, but at other points it’s distracting. It’s very evident when the player shoots the first grunts that appear in the Swords of Sanghelios video after killing the Jackals. It almost appears as if something is coming off of the Grunts’ armor.

At any rate, I’m sure it will change to match multiplayers’ design. At least I hope it does.

At the end of the day, it’s a simple tweak post release if it does happen to stay the same. Just address it to Josh or Frankie on Twitter and they might relay it to the team.

Hit marker shouldn’t be in campaign, just looks dumb but oh well still going to play the yoink out of it

the difference in the looks might be because they are different builds of the game. Older vs younger. I’d expect the war zone hit markers to be the older of the two. I could be wrong.
