Get rid of friendly fire.
Care to elaborate?
Instead of randomly allowed people to kick their teammates due to betrayals, why not just get rid of the ability to damage allied players entirely?
Then noone can betray and then noone gets kicked for accidents.
Oh no no no no. This would so not work. If there is no friendly fire, then people will fire their rockets at anything that moves without a seconds hesitation. They will throw grenades at their teammates feet when they are battling an enemy. It would create very careless play and would not be good at all.
you are entirely wrong, this would stop trolls from jumping on your tank and sitting on your cannon, this would make it so your teammates cant emp your vehicle or shoot it because they wanted it. and most importantly it would allow people to shoot at enemies without having to worry if an ally is too close.

But you SHOULD have to worry about where your teammates are, not be able to shoot blindly where you want when you want with no repercussions.
And if you are running into THAT many people who are “jumping on your tank” then try playing with friends or changing tactics.
I swear, so many people come in and complain about getting griefed by teammates and I almost never run into it. Sure, there’s a moron or two every now and then but not enough to make me want friendly fire turned off.

I highly disagree with what you just said. Friendly fire makes it more like an actual war, would you really throw grenades or rocket your teammates in battle? I like that about Halo.
Also, when new players/bad players are in good vehicles like banshees or scorpions I admit I will sometimes EMP them to get the vehicle so someone who knows how to use it can actually use it.
And if some idiot jumps in front of the cannon on your tank just move or do something else, because even if they took out friendly fire it would be worse, because then they could just stand there and you couldn’t even betray them to stop them and get them out. So what you said at the start would not work with scorpions one bit, but make the problem for you worse.

You and me should play together sometime…I’ll show you how I always get paired up with the…idiots.

Although I understand where you’re coming from, let me assure you that he’s absolutely correct and you’re not seeing the full picture. Halo has an extra competitive edge over games like Battlefield 3, Gears of War 3 and Modern Warfare 3 in the sense that you have to be super observant of where your team mates are at any given moment. If not, then you WILL get accidental betrayals often. I get that griefers ruin it, but honestly, I’d rather have the 2% griefers and 98% actual players than to have no friendly fire.
Think about this:
Under your idea, you get in a tank. Friendly fire is turned off, no more betrayals. No more griefers? Wrong. A team mate stands in front of your turret. Instead of you shooting and he dies, now he takes no damage and you damage yourself. 2-3 shots and you get a suicide, the tank’s destroyed.
I think I’m fine with trying to find ways to rid of griefers rather than finding half–Yoinked!- ways to change the system.
I bet this guy just got booted.
Taking out friendly fire has been implemented in certain game types like Living Dead. I think that it would be somewhat ridiculous to implement it in every gametype, but perhaps in only certain ones like Griffball for example. I cannot tell you how many times games that my friends and I have been in have been ruined because some idiot teammate decides he wants to betray us.
So, no, I don’t think removing friendly fire from all gametypes is necessary, but since it has already been implemented, maybe it should be put into gametypes that have a severe problem in it.
Just as a side note, I also think the betrayal system is somewhat broken seeing as how someone can betray me and I don’t get the option to boot; but when I accidentally splatter a teammate or shoot them, I get instantly booted.

Taking out friendly fire would only keep you from directly causing someone to die. We see that in firefight you can still be the cause of their death. Therefore eliminating Friendly Fire won’t stop betrayers from doing what they want but merely make them become more creative at it.
No.
NO.
And NO!
All that would do is turn halo into a shooting fest. If you’re looking for that just go to firefight, make yourself invincible, and grab a rocket launcher.
I’ve never noticed being booted unless it was deliberate, like if a teamkiller is getting me REALLY POed. I’ve been responsible for the deaths of a few teammates through splash damage I think but as it was a giant fray, I’m pretty sure reach understood it was unintentional.
Betrayal system is fine as it is.
Even though betrayals will cripple even the most skilled players(or bust the ones who deserve it), there are times you can get lucky in the game(as in not get the betrayal even though your -insert strong weapon here- obviously killed your ally. for example, in hemhorrage, i was aiming at an enemy and accidentally stuck my allies’ hog in the crossfire and killed both(and MAN was i glad it didnt say betrayal!) and in the same time(karma got me this time) i aimed at an ENEMY’S hog… and nailed a teammate on the side of the hog(killing the hog), and again NO betrayal. guess the PLASMA LAUNCHER i was using said “Death knows who he’s hittin”, lol. btw there was always somethin wrong with the Halo Kill Registration, ever since Halo 1(i.e. blew myself up and it said someone else killed me)
they already have that in matchmaking, even though vehicles will still kill you[/remove]

Even with team killing switched off the above can still happen. It just means you wont kill the guy but your wraith or tank will still take damage.

Actually like i said, even though friendly fire is turned off you will still get SPLATTER betrayed!

what about splatter betrayal?
I love how 343 fix friendly fire on infection in halo reach… But are they too lazy to put it on every playlist? There is always that one teammate that will betrey you for the rocket or something, and when you betrey him back YOU are the one that gets kicked out! When I rank up to a inheritor im DONE with reach.
