Don’t know if anyone else noticed but the game itself remembers players you mute and if you play with them in the future it starts the game with them already muted. As well when someone betrays you multiple times in a game you can boot them.
SO my idea is mixing both of those into a way to report/deal with quitters. Something like if you play with a person and they quit the system remembers, next time it happens (maybe 3 times in a month) it gives you the auto-option "would you like to report this player for habitual quitting. Even if they are on the team against you and it wouldn’t inform you so it would really be about reporting quitting rather than people getting mad when the quitting does negatively impact them vs helping them.
i still think the best option is if someone has higher then a 15% quit ratio for the season, that once you pass that % mark you get thrown in lobbies with quitters only. the only way out is to get your ratio back below 10% or 8% or anything of the sorts.
for exampple new season starts and john quits 2/10 games well now he is in a quitters lobby. where you still get ranked and everything else just the only ppl he is up aginst are habitual quitters. now for john to learn to respect his teammates he must play there for 10 games straight without quitting. meaning he would be at a 10% quit ratio. if he quits any of those games then he will just have to play in that lobby for longer.
doing that is much better then the banhamm IMO
it allows everyone to still play the game, but you will be playing with ppl that actually care about the care as much as you do. so if you dont care about your teammates winning or losing then you will be stuck with those kinda players.
it also just might teach the quitters what kinda harm they are really doing to someone once they quit.
yes there could be loop holes like play 60 games in a seaosn then knowing your % is high enough to quit some, but i doubt thatll happen, or you fine tune it to where the % is calculated weekly instead of seasonly

This is a decent solution.
Please revisit the logical area of your brain. Should some be punished if the system “remembers” they quit when in fact the server disconnected them? It happens quite a bit to me, I can’t imagine those overseas from the US. Your solution = “let’s alienate some players who are not fortunate enough to live close enough or those who are unfortunate enough to be disconnected on a regular basis.”
I like it, having a matchmaking or servers for frequent quitters would likely also be the easiest to add. Similar to how GTA online has servers for “Bad Sports”, your character also has to wear a Dunce Cap.
Also, Gravity crusher, maybe the gravity is crushing your logic centers cause your reasoning is dumb. Considering the game makes you confirm if you want to quit unless these players are hard-resetting their xboxs they could tell if it was a quit vs another issue. Another thing why would the system prioritize connecting far apart players in the first place, by doing that they are already alienating whatever player happens to have the connection/furthest from the dedicated server…aka a problem of pretty much all games no matter what you do. Potentially my idea would also help to keep the most distant players from being matched often. As well the size of this games player base means you rarely should get matched together unless you are often playing at the same times/close in location vs server. So unless most European players are playing between 2-5am they likely aren’t getting matched with me anyway (…encase you don’t know the world isn’t on 1 time zone).

If you can’t play the game properly then you are ruining other players experiance. No matter the reason for disconnecting it should be punished.
Again the game makes you select quit, then confirm it so it would be very easy to tell who is having issues vs quitting. Plus if their connection is horrible and they are forced to play with me on a fiberoptics line then all it does it piss them off/raise my KD.

Lol all I can image is 343 making them wear unicorn helmets or some -Yoink-.

they already kinda have those helmets
but a pink fluffy dress wouldnt be bad.
They make a special helmet and it locks your spartan appearance helmet section till the “punishment” is over. It would turn white in FFA, and in team games it would turn like the lightest color of your teams color with white stripes maybe so we all know.

So what you are saying is that the people who don’t disconnect and don’t leave games should just continue to be put at a disadvantage? If someone knows that they get disconnected that frequently then they should look for resolution to fix their problem or not play.
I love this idea! Eventually the game has no choice but to watch you with team players!

Sometimes I forget that I am talking to idiot kids.
It would be great if the servers did those things. Really it would, but they don’t. Also, in case (that’s how you spell it, you person) you don’t know, not everyone plays in the evening in their respective time zones. I play at 6 AM where I’m at sometimes, and 10 PM at other times. Being an engineer, I work until crazy times and sometimes I get in to get matched up with gasp! someone that is not in the US. Just this morning I was matched with a fellow who figured out I was American (and who I realized was from the UK). Then him and his posse were promptly disconnected before the game even started. I guess by your logic they should have been set aflame and pushed into a river of tar for having the gall, nay the “-Yoink!-” to even attempt to play a game whose servers were 3000 miles away from them. How dare they have even tried.
Again, get your thinking straight you -Yoink-.

343 isn’t able to serve everyone a great connection, regardless of dedicated servers. There are plenty of threads here where people are complaining of unjust bans for sudden disconnects from matches. Should 343 damn the populace that is experiencing problems with an error on 343s side? That would put some people off, and eventually lose you some customers. Do you like halo? Do you want to keep playing halo? If the answer is yes, then you should be suggesting ways to accommodate even those who don’t have perfect connections lest they leave and never come back. No customers = no halo. And what I’m saying is a more dedicated effort should be made into figuring out a course of action instead of the witch hunt whatever his name above is suggesting.

Or like Halo’s of old has had the option to AVOID players. It would obviously need to be refined for H5 because it never really worked anyways, but how great would it be after a game if someone quit you could have the option to “mute” playing with them again. Sure this would be hard to implement in ranked matches because you could just avoid players who are good to play with other people, however if this had the condition that you could only opt to avoid them AFTER they had abused a game with you and maybe even having a history of being banned or something, then you’d get that option to pop up that you could opt to not match up with them in the future.

The dress should also include a sign at the back that says “Shoot Me”.
Gravity…a man calls you a horse you punch them in the face, another man calls you a horse you punch them in the face, the third guy calls you a horse you better start shopping for a saddle. Keep in mind I’m not the only one saying your wrong.
You don’t seem to have a clue about how gaming servers work. Your general complaint makes no sense as no matter what you do you are already alienating players by having players really far apart or with connection differences forced together. I mean by your reasoning I should only be allowed to play with other people with highspeed internet cause my Fiberoptics within a major city will generally always beat someone in the middle of no where with a DSL connection (oh wait they have to have cable or satellite due to the lack of substations for the DSL to use). If you are indeed an engineer it is clearly just in the name or in a completely unrelated field as you don’t seem to understand general networking concepts by what you have said in your complaints. Again I don’t even really see your point as the issue is still created and those people as of now get the ban hammer rather than being able to target players who are repeat offenders. In fact if anything your complaint would make the issue work as it does nothing to change that I get a lag free experience/get kills and they get dropped or unfairly wrecked.

If your getting disconnected on a regular basis you should not be playing this game until you get your internet issues resolved. If I’m playing from some far off country and have terrible internet I could understand that this might not work out for me.
And if the game simply doesn’t work as well in other countries or has bad servers in certain areas, then I wouldn’t be playing it anyways.
The game still starts off with some players muted. I sometimes un-mute,… Only to hear why they’re muted. Loud music or heavy breathing. The mute goes back on.

I would rather not be seeing this on my battlefield. How about they don’t earn req points for a while or are forced to have a quitters emblem.
