Any chance we’ll be getting to assassinate a Hunter in game? My idea is that the Hunter has a armor plate on its back and you need to shoot it off, you also need a grenade as well. After that the assassination will go like how Master Chief puts the grenade into the Hunter in Halo: Forward Into Dawn.
I was imagining the grenade thing too. I like your idea of the plate on the back since simply going to a Hunter’s back and meleeing him would be too easy. Perhaps 343i could do something with what they have in H5 right now, meaning you can only assassinate a Hunter once you knock off enough armor, but you can still shoot them in the back as soon as you engage with them. Would be great too see an assassination added for Hunters since I believe they are one of only a select few enemies that cannot be assassinated.
Grenade thing if you have it. Maybe there could be like a rare thing where you can assassinate the hunter only every now and then? Idk maybe not idk ur thoughts?
I think that assassinations are cool, but more of a Call Of Duty thing. Halo was unique because of differences such as no assassinations, shields, and no kill-streaks. Halo 4 defied this and as a result is often criticized for not being a real Halo game in multiplayer because it tried to steal COD’s crowd. However, I still think that there is no harm in doing this in AI assassinations, so as long as 343 removes REAL player assassinations, I’m gud.
I love the Hunter so I would fully support it if 343 gave the option to assassinate them under certain conditions.
This is something I’ve been wanting to see implemented ever since we saw Chief do it. Hunter’s are already a powerful enemy just by themselves so using a grenade after they’ve taken some damage (back armor off) makes perfect sense.
I think because of their spines coming off with the armor, they should have less react-ability, allowing you to more easily sneak behind em. Just depends on how they go about balancing them as comparing H2/3 Hunters to H5’s shows quite the difference.

Just an FYI, Reach was the first to have assassinations.
If you’re going to assassinate a Hunter I think their needs to be several conditions met since they count as mini bosses. Armor has to blown off, the 2nd hunter has to already be dead, and finally you need either a Plasma Grenade, Frag Grenade.

Yeah I agree, you can either shoot them like usual or go for the assassination.

I feel like they should be more aggressive when their armor plate is shot off because they now have more mobility.

Why does one have to die? Just shoot the armor off or just kill it like normal. One doesn’t have to necessarily die in order for you to assassinate it.

Hmm… In what way?
Cause when you say that I think about the H5 Hunters which to me are no fun to fight up close against. In terms of CQC, Halo Reach Hunters were definitely my favorite.
However, if they acted like Reach Hunters with back armor on and H5 Hunters without it then that’d make sense to me because of trying to get you off their vulnerable back (before you ‘hijack’) in which case I actually really like the idea.
I think there should be two ways of doing it either A stick a grenade inside the hunters back or B rip out its worms.

Oh that’s not a bad idea. Yeah I like that a lot.

What I imagine happening is once you hop onto one of them, he will turn his back on his brother who will shoot you off with a well placed blast of fuel-rod. So unless there is no line of sight, you will have to take one brother out to assassinate the other one.
Like pop off the back armour and then take it down like boarding the back of a wraith? Sounds dope as hell. And if they build that riding the back of friendly hunters would be a breeze to add in.

Because if you just assassinate both Hunters there is no challenge. In canon when a Hunter is enraged it is because it’s bond brother died. Why not take advantage of it’s rage and blind aggressive anger by assassinating or in this case executing. It should not be easy to assassinate something made of millions of worms and has armor everywhere, even Bungie knew that when they fixed Hunters dying in one shot.

Vengeful 'Vadam did that in his Halo: Reach Evolved mod. Here’s the trailer for it.

Just saw it and yes! That’s what I’m talking about! But of course I think it wouldve been cool if they animation was like that of Forward Unto Dawn. But that could also work too.
How about this, the Hunter’s armor has been ripped off, you sneak behind it. The Hunter notices you and slams its arm next to you, but you dodge and end up in front of it. It charges it’s cannon and attempts to shoot you, but you throw your knife at it and hits one of its eyes. In pain the Hunter throws its cannon upward, delivering a green orb of energy just like Halo:CE but green. You lunge at it and grab its head by your knife. As it flails in agony, you use your momentum to grab you pistol and unload a clip into its back as you twist its head. Finally as the Hunter collapses, you fling yourself with your momentum 15 ft into the air and land with your fist in the ground Iron Man style, and instantly pull out your gun that you were using.
This results in a green explosion in the sky, also the Hunter had its neck broken and its back filled with lead, resulting in an orange pool of blood.
Too much?

Yeah I think it’s a little to much. Espeacially with the coding theyed have to put in. But idea was it’s actually good.
