New armor in the future?

I’m around level 43 in multiplayer for Halo 4 and it seems that I can see all the armor unlocks and then I’ve seen the armor you get from the specializations, but what I’m wondering is will there be any new armor types added in the future for Halo 4? I feel like there aren’t that many types of armor since a lot of the armor you can unlock is just a variant of another armor type with different stripes.

Yeah, this question tends to get ignored.

Which is personally a let down for me, as i was let down when it became public information that they could not add new armor as dlc in Reach.

Hopefully that has changed for Halo 4… because, I too am nearing lvl 42 now, and the armor is starting to look stale. Just cycle though spartan cards in pre game lobbies, they all tend to look the same still. Which sucks, there are so many more options in Halo 4 than Reach.

An answer to you’re question would be good.

If the engine is anything like it was for 3/reach (and it is, it was a modified version of those engines), its not possible, because armor is compiled into each map. Chances are you have not unlocked quite everything.

Unless they made a MAJOR engine change.

im at level 64, im sure ive seen everything.
happy with what we have, but i agree i would love some DLC armor. not holding my breath though.

I sure hope they do. I kind of find it odd that almost half a dozen of them do not have visors. It would have been great if that one helmet you get from assassinations had the visors instead of those white lights in its visors.

…Man, I want the Fotus or something with a badass horn. :C

DLC armor would be cool :stuck_out_tongue:
But I feel most of the armor in Halo 4 is just… Blocky?
I don’t know, I feel like it was a try hard attempt of being 4 years in the future of 540 years from now. If you understand…

I don’t know! I just wish every armor piece looked good like they did in Halo 3

I still enjoy the customization! It’s just I feel they tried a little too hard…

I’d rather they try a little too hard than not try enough.

If armor were to be made available, it would have to be via free DLC or a patch. If it’s not on disc, adding new things gets problematic.

This is why all ME3 MP DLC has been free. By making it free, everyone can access it and there’s no worry about players having incompatible versions of the game. Granted, I know nothing of coding and such so I’m sure the issue likely runs far deeper than something so simple, but that’s the basic gist of it. Unless it’s made free and available for every player in the game, we run the risk of compatibility issues arising which would be pretty problematic.

I’m pretty sure the fact you can pay for the veteran, spectre, premium, and jumbo equipment packs with MSpoints (real money) has alot to do with why the ME3 multiplayer DLC packs being free. Smart of EA to allow players to buy the unlockables for multiplayer modes in their games while saving the time they do not want to spent unlocking the stuff the usuall, longer way, and it’s great in ME3, not that I actually paid with real money.

Back on topic:
In the nature of coding, if you add something, then you will create a glitch, but if you remove something, then you will create a glitch. It doesn’t stop the guys from making sure there are less obvious glitches or just less glitchs at all.

It would be less of an issue if they made their system flexible so it would be easy to add things in, instead of having to rewrite stuff and add in huge new tabs and stuff. then again you never know till it’s done.

thats prolly it. i doubt they would make more in dlc.

WRRRRROOOONNGGG!!

ME3 MP junk has been ‘free’ because you don’t actually GET anything with the DLC. ALL of the stuff has to be earned in game, OR you have to spend real money on the packs. Earning packs through in-game play takes a -Yoink- age unless you have a pet team of pros to grind through the hardest difficulty with. Either way, they strike gold, because they have more people playing OR giving them money for packs out of frustration thanks to the packs being entirely random and being capable of giving you nothing you actually want.

This is what title updates do; they add in stuff like any new graphics, playlists, armour, whatever. This is why you have title updates alongside DLC; because then people who don’t have the DLC can still play. It has nothing to do with the DLC itself. And ME3 is a great example…of money laundering and ripping off a fanbase on a galactic scale. Fragging EA…

pretty much this adding a new armor to the game would take quite a bit of coding on each map including the new ones in DLC. now i dont know how easy or hard it is to do, but i would imagine if they did it with one map it wouldnt be too terribly difficult or time consuming to do with the others. it would be neat if new armors came with each new map pack. but it does seem pretty doubtful.

I read about Halo 4 having the ability for more armor to come in DLC unlike Reach, not sure on where I read the article but it was one of my more common sites for news.

Am I the only one who just doesn’t “get” the spartan looks now?

I don’t know, they just don’t seem very different, it may be because there is a layer of the suit (not the armor itself) that is also colored like the spartan, so it’s more difficult to distinguish between the individual pieces of armor, which is where the ‘cool’ factor comes in.

In terms of armor customization, Halo Reach was far far better just to the eyes.

if it’s limited to whats in the game at least they could put master chief’s armor in the game right? is it possible for new emblems because i think that was one of the game’s bigger fumbles

We can merely hope 343i thought about us D: New armours would be a substantial addition to the game. That is great alreaaady

No, not just you. I seriously preferred the style and customisation options in Reach. I like the Halo 4 campaign, Ops and multiplayer, but I miss Firefight and the armour the Spartans and Elites wore.

And yes, that coloured undersuit bit pisses me off too =/

Go complete Campaign on Legendary, co-op or solo. Voila; Mk VI armour unlocked.

They wont. Hence some armors being tied to insane commendation farming/longterm unlock.

armor unlocks based on achievements from previous halo games.

What? If this is true, then what were 343/Bungie thinking? That is not how you store your game assets. Here is a good run down:

Game Assets
Sound
=Player
=Campaign
=Multiplayer
=Environment
=Enemies
=Menu
=Weapons

Graphics
=Models
=Textures
=Player
=Campaign
=Multiplayer
=Enemies
=Weapons

Maps
=Environment
=Gamemodes
=Lightmaps
=Structure

Gamecode
=Logic
=Physics
=Light

Etc.

If they seriously coded that in the manner that you stated (rather than putting REFERENCE POINTS, and even then, really?), then they would be duplicating data all over the place. The disc wouldn’t have any room for anything but the .map files, and the armor pieces.
