New armor doesn't load in Spartan ops

Just started playing Halo 4 again after getting the new armor. Figured I’d play some Spartan Ops just to get the feel for the controls again.

My Spartan Now has Mark V Helmet and ODST Shoulders, but what shows when I play Spartan Ops is Recruit Helmet and Shoulders.

Just wondering when 343 was going to fix it.

They are not.

It was said (agreed not on time or clearly posted somewhere ) that it’s not possible to get the new DLC in Campaign or SpOps

Only in Multiplayer.

Hi, DecadenceXx. HurryingCandy is correct. Due to the expansive sandbox featured in Spartan Ops missions, we have less flexibility to use additional memory for new content. We would have loved to implement it across the board but unfortunately that was too risky of a move (risky in this instance meaning there was a strong likelihood of breaking things).

Could you mention it in the Bulletin next week? Make it an official announcement at least, thanks for explaining why though

About friggin time somebody explained this. Jesus!!! Why did that take so long?

Man I just realized how bummed i am to actually hear it can’t be fixed. That’s too bad. All I really play is spartan ops because of the large maps and my customized spartan and load outs. Sad cheeks :frowning:

In other words, it will never be fixed?

Why didn’t you tell us this days ago?

That’s what I’m sayin! And the worse thing is they knew it didn’t work and didn’t even let us know. No courtesy for customers like me who don’t really play multiplayer. I just wasted $10. I’d rather get me a burrito with that money. Man these guys are getting good at letting me down.

You know what? 343i could make up for this by bringing back Firefight in Halo 4. Make it run on existing War Games maps, instead of building separate maps like they did in Halo 3:ODST and Reach.

It’s an idea I’ve toyed with for a while… naturally, we should be able to use the Champions DLC content in Firefight, or there’s no point. Anyway, here are the maps that I think would work best for Firefight in Halo 4:

Longbow
Meltdown
Exile
Vortex
Ragnarok
Solace
Complex
Adrift
-
Shatter
Harvest
Wreckage
-
Landfall
-
Daybreak
Perdition
Outcast
-
Pitfall
Vertigo

I don’t think it would be too much to ask; all we would need is the gametype (adapted to work with Halo 4, since there are no Skirmishers or Brutes in this game), and the above maps adapted for Firefight.

Plus, they should make sure to make full use of the entire Halo 4 sandbox (including heavy vehicles like the Scorpion, Mantis*, and Banshee). Also, having Pitfall and Vertigo enabled for Firefight would make the Champions Bundle all the more valuable to single-player/co-op fans, I think…

*Use the multiplayer version of the Mantis; the Campaign/Spartan Ops version would be a bit overpowered for Firefight.

I understand that, respect that and I am really thankfull that you bring new armor and stuff for the first time in a Halo game. Good job right here.

On the other side I can see now whats wrong with 343I. Was it really that hard to tell the fans that it wont work in Spartan Ops? Does it really need 2 weeks to tell them?

I dont care because I dont play Spartan Ops much, but this people payed for it, so at least tell them the thruth.

You should start respecting your fans more before you will lose the last one of them.

This is not an attack at BS Angel but at 343I.

Come on, we’ve got a 20 page thread going elswhere about this and only now do we get a reply on here. Yet another example of 343 ignoring the people who have bought this dlc under false pretences. Why wasn’t this made clear before release? Why has it taken so long to get an explanation and why wasn’t it on the most popular thread? I am a massive Halo fan and now I’m starting to lose faith in the franchise. I appreciate the work that must’ve gone into making this dlc but it’s broken and misadvertised. Unless they change their minds and take the risk of fixing this 343 will have to do something pretty damn spectacular before I pay any more money for something with their name on it.

This saddens me honestly it does, so many ideas with these armors and skins and we are limited to multiplayer…this kinda sucks. And as to now being notified about this matter as opposed to before…i used to play firefight days on end and when that was replaced with spartan ops i accepted it. I only play spartan ops because i can fight covies and now that these armors cant be used it just seems…stale. I dont know what to think about 343 now. Ill still vouch for halo being great but its losing alot of faithful fans. At least we got news about whats up with the dlc.

I would’ve considered it not being fixable when it wasn’t available upon launch and the forum post BS Angel made a day before release regarding it not being available in Spartan Ops.

I really don’t understand why this is such a big deal to some people. You cannot watch your Spartan Ops clips in theater mode and only your team will be able to see it and even then they’d pay more attention to the aliens shooting them than they would your shiny helmet.

I’m not defending 343 here. I think it sucks that it isn’t going to be fixed too, but I have enough basic understanding of coding and memory to see why this would be more trouble than it’s worth to fix.

The issue for most (I feel) IS NOT that 343 failed to provide something co-op has never had in the first place (cosmetic DLC.) They failed to advertise the incompatibility before the DLC was released. Blog posts, marketplace descriptions, they left out “for wargames only” which led us to buy content we couldn’t ultimately use for our preferred game mode. $6, for me, up in smoke because of a neglectful community team. That’s something to get truly irritated.

Oh yes, I’m well aware of that. I forgot to mention it in my post (woops) what I mean is now that it’s released and all out in the open I don’t see why people can’t just accept it. We know it’s not going to change now.

sad to know it wont be implemented, I just want to know why it took a week and half for something to even be said about this

Is there really a need to advertise this? Why not include warning labels on EVERYTHING?

Why not you just be lucky that 343i was able to add new armor and weapon skins, past Halo games would not allow this, and the current engine still has limitations when it comes to adding new things other than map only additions.

This shouldn’t be such a big surprise that Spartan Ops can’t use the new DLC armor and DLC weapon skins.

Well that is true but a warning label is needed for those who dont check the forums on here, how is someone supposed to know it wont work for spartan ops other than already owning the dlc. Some people wouldnt think that it cant be fixed off the bat.

  1. We are not lucky to get skin/character/armor DLC for wargames. Plenty of other shooters ranging from Unreal Tournament 3, Space Marine, Borderlands 2, Mass Effect 2, Team Fortress 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and dozens of games on and off this platform have already tried their hand at this sort of content and, mind you, achieved it without apparent issue. Engine limitations is simply another way of saying “343 failed to pull it off,” not that it’s an excusable practical or technical impossibility since by all appearances they’re the only ones still having trouble with cosmetic DLC implementation.

  2. So would you like to open up a pack of oreos and find out that the cream filling has been replaced with beef paste? There is this thing called truth in advertising and it’s one of the cornerstones of our entire economy. Forgetting to tell us that the new DLC doesn’t work in SOPS (after 343 banged on for so long during development that they’ve finally integrated the multiplayer and co-op modes into one cohesive experience) is a serious breach of consumer-business trust because it totally ignores the dire consequences that key tehcnical problems will have for some people (a fine and dandy FU to those were trying to support them).

A “warning label” would be entirely appropriate. This isn’t a toaster oven, and we are not hicks trying to spawn a human-toaster hybrid. We need to be informed about what’s really contained in the package and what we can ultimately do with it as otherwise there’s no foundation for business to be done here.

I want my money back!!. I bought this For spartan ops and 343 miss advertise the DLC with no mention before release of it not working with spartan ops. 343. you should have been honest with us from the beginning before release of the champion bundle. Had i known this. i would have just bought the pack with the maps and nothing else. WHAT A RIP OFF!
