New Armor Ability - Horn

I thought about some other possible AAs that could be created for Halo4 and one idea that I thought of was “Horn”, when activated it would emit a loud horn sounding noise that frightens and confuses the enemy. For example, you could hide around a corner and when an enemy runs past you could activate your horn AA which will cause them to get a hell of a fright and while they’re turning around in panic trying to find the source of the unexpected loud noise you could jump in behind them and assassinate them… all thanks to the horn. Perhaps steam or something could seep out of the joints in your armor while you’re honking the horn. Anyway I think this would be a very good way to distract enemies and would be very good for gameplay.

…So you were thinking of all the possible ways you could make a new armor ability and the best thing you came up with was a loud sound coming from you? Try shooting bro. Don’t want to be on the radar? Crouch.

Honking a horn?

Seriously? There’s nothing to discuss aside from the astuteness of how lame it is.

“When someone runs past you”? Generally, you’re going to try to shoot this person before they run past you. Not to mention- rockets, grenades, bullets and many other loud noises happen practically at your feet. A honk or a beep wouldn’t do anything but annoy other players.

AA = HATRED!!! Haha i think sprint is okay but not nothing else. I miss the ability to pick up invisibility and overshield.

I don’t b/c that’s what majority of everyone would gun for or camp at anyway if not the power weapons. Now there are personal options instead of picking the Rocket, the Overshield or the Vehicle or the 4 different grenade type hoarding.

At least I see more variety than those 4 elements in EVERY match.

When did this forum become, The Flood? Threads like this should stay there…

Don’t know why I didn’t think to put this on here…possibly a blonde moment. Anyway, how about introducing Armor Counter Abilities? Like Armor lock, someone could disrupt it?

> Don’t know why I didn’t think to put this on here…possibly a blonde moment. Anyway, how about introducing Armor Counter Abilities? Like Armor lock, someone could disrupt it?

yeah, the counter for armor lock would be this cool thing, called “EMP”, you do it by using armor lock for more than 3 seconds…

yeah I think having drawbacks on armor abilities would be better than “counter” ones. why complicate the combat system when you could make it more balanced? I think AA’s are mis-labeled. since when was “sprinting” attached to a chip you install in your clothes? or evade? since when was an Armor Ability a term for “wearing a jet pack”? AL and Cloak are the only ones that even make any sense, and AL is still broken, disrupting game balance and breaking the flow of map control. stealth promotes camping, since it recharges, and also disrupts game pace in MM, since a “lone wolf camper” is likely going to use it to stay hidden rather than give his team support fire.

I want them to be “pick up” based things that work like power ups, limited use, runs out, and make you better at “winning” thus not starting off with them. they might as well have put Over Shield as a AA, and they probably almost did, but decided to do AL instead (as if temp. invulnrability isn’t cheaper than some extra shields. like being invulnrable doesn’t disrupt game flow or power weapons :stuck_out_tongue: right)

if you found the cloak and AL AA’s on the map, rather than in your load outs, they could make them better, and work around map control, rather than working against the game’s core mechanics.

Jet pack should only be on certain maps, and certain game types where having a jet pack is the standard, such as a strictly vertical map.

Sprint should never have been an AA, and evade should not exist as it is. Evade would work, if it made you evade into a “prone” position, as to reduce damage from grenades and other explosives, or to “evade” behind cover, rather than turning into a hard to hit sonic the hedgehog rip off for a couple seconds while in an open space, or turn into a small, hard to hit sword zombi in a narrow hall.

Just one comment, since when does EMP counter armor lock? I’ve been EMP’d many times while in Armor lock then had several grenades go off and I don’t die. Don’t really know why you suggested it. EMP is great to stun but I’ve never seen it counter a Armor lock, nor had it be the cause of me dying while in armor lock.

It doesn’t. It doesn’t even “stun”. It knocks out the players shield.

What about a sonic boom effect that knocks an enemy back. If the enemy collides with an object it would cause him some damage.

> What about a sonic boom effect that knocks an enemy back. If the enemy collides with an object it would cause him some damage.

LOL…hmmmm…is it just me or does that sound quite similar to the Nuke in Call of Duty… Yah sorry I don’t want some camper to get say 20 kills with the shotgun, then NUKE, game over. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I was thinking more like Hadouken and less like Ha-Nuke-'em.

So you want Street Fighter AND COD mechanics in a Halo game???

Why not throw in Batarangs as well???

Let the people who created/work on Halo be the ones who come up with the ideas. Please.

What and not give them the ideas from the community? I mean we Are part of the community are we not?

As a programmer I would Want to know what the community thinks not just Me, Myself and I.

So why not give ideas, shoot even a Bad idea is better than None at all.

B/c look at the situation we’re in now? It’s constant back and forth arguing about “the integrity of Halo” and the abandonment of the true formula and blah blah blah. All it does is split the community more against each other. At least if the ideas come solely from the developer, you know where to point the finger. With the community gets involved, they oughta take the blame if it manages to suck.

Sorry but I repeat this a lot - When you get in the devs shoes and work on a project only to be criticized and scrutinized b/c “you don’t care about the fans”, then you can put in your constructive ideas. Otherwise, what’s the point of being a dev anyway if your fan-base is just going to constantly say they have better ideas/intentions?

That’s all I’m seeing. People were against AA’s and they protested. 343 tried to meet them halfway, and they’re STILL complaining! I see it every day - Armor Lock needs MORE nerfing, Zero Bloom needs to be 85% bloom.

Where.
Does.
It.
End?

Have you seen my thread http://halo.xbox.com/forums/games/f/7/t/33785.aspx?PageIndex=1****
Its pretty much about how people will always point out flaws and all halo games will one day be revered as “the best game ever” no matter how bad.
