Another good idea I thought of for a new ability is Demon. It gives you power to posess and take control of a player on the other team for a short time.
When you use Demon you could make the enemy player kill and betray his teammates or simply make the player you’re controlling commit suicide by jumping off a cliff, making them grenade or rocket themselves etc.
I think Demon would be a good addition and make for some interesting new gameplay.
Just imagine a team of 4 players using demon, that would just be silly. Sorry OP but potentially being forced to grenade myself and jump off cliffs all game is not something I’m looking for.
> Even I am going to say heck no to this.

The fact that Sammy thinks its beyond broken says a lot.
If you actually think about it, the idea is pretty ridicules. I’m about to lose my BR battle and with the click of a button the player is mine to toy with. Apart from the obvious unfair nature of the ability, what will the player with no control do? Just sit there and watch while you toy with the player he/she should be controlling? Or will they just quit and stop playing the game completely?

Yeah but think of the strategic depth that will introduce! You’ll have to think about the fact that your opponent may have this AA and you’ll have to use all the tools at your disposal to counter it smartly!

I guess the player can activate “horn” to counter that.
Breaking the manipulator’s concentration and focus with an extremely annoying and painful sound that lets your head ring when you don’t cover your ears with your hands.

I agree! The skill and thinking that goes into this is just out of balance! Non-Loadout equal starts are in the past and in terms of skill, is nothing compared to this!
> LOL. Please post more of these “good” ideas. You must be Shootin Sammy’s soul mate OR you are Master Troll. Either way keep them coming.
Nah man, let’s not start turning into a “let’s bash sammy” thread". Sure, the guy has had a lot of ideas that don’t resonate well within the community. And yeah, his attitude has been questionable at times, although that’s been improving a lot lately. But you really can see that sammy is just another guy who really loves Halo, and spends a lot of time and effort putting thought into new and interesting ideas that could improve the series in his eyes.
Sure, he loves Infinity much more than classic Halo, but that’s ok. The thing is, all of his ideas follow a certain design philosophy that’s apparent throughout his posts. The ideas are very different than what we would want, yes, but does that make them bad? No, it does not. Good and bad are subjective. Sure, many of us would think that his ideas are bad for Halo’s future, since they do not work with what we see being the traditional Halo experience. But to him, they are great ideas that evolve the new Infinity Halo experience.
So sure, feel free to go and disagree with him as much as you want in his threads. I’ll be the first to admit that whenever I see sammy’s threads, I’ll jump right in to make a comment. It’s not to attack him, but merely because I find that the clash of two completely different points of view can offer me the chance to go into detail about what I love about the traditional Halo gameplay. But, let’s not start bashing sammy everywhere we go and use him as a way to insult other members, savvy?

LOL. NO. Absolutely not. There is no place in multiplayer where this should be warranted. The only other abilities that I’d welcome to the game are the 2 that were cut from Halo 4.

Why not?
This is another element that can greatly enhance the ability for teams to work well together.

No it doesn’t. No amount of teamwork can counter an ability that takes control of a teammate. None. There’s no probable reason to ever use it that wouldn’t be consider cheap and unfair and most players would get turned away even more than what Halo 4 did. Sorry, there’s good ideas and bad ideas. This idea, is a bad one.

That’s assuming the OP was actually being serious when he made this thread. It may very well have been a joke with no actual intention to be serious, and we just interpreted it as such. Which brings back what I said about all the other ideas being made recently that were indeed serious about the ideas.
Having said that, if the idea really was a serious suggestion for the next Halo game I’d have to lump this idea in with the Dismemberment/Gore, Evolving AA’s, and Armor Choice Influences your Stats suggestions. Not a suggestion I’d ever want to see come to light.
Slightly on-topic though: What would happen to YOUR spartan while you’re screwing around with the other team? Does s/he vanish from the game until it’s over? If not, what if someone else came in and saw you there and sniped you? What if EVERYONE in the game had the ability? What if they all used it near at the same time? If you do vanish from the game and someone parks a tank or a vehicle where you were, would you be Killed By the Guardians as you re-enter the game?

You can control their teammate, make everyone follow you, and take them into a trap made by the rest of your team. How is that not teamwork?
I feel that this could greatly change how the game is being played at the top level, in a positive way.
Steps back into thread to add something to the discussion
While I think this would be beyond overpowered, perhaps it would be fun in Campaign. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be a Promethean. Or to be an Infection Form.
The name of the AA should also be changed to “Warg.”

I agree. And if your teammate happens to be equipped with the Horn AA, you could coordinate with them by getting on the mic and calling out for help. Said teammate can swing by where you’ve been “hacked” and activate their AA and if they do it right and scare the hacker, you can free your Spartan from the enemy’s clutches!
No way OP. have you ever heard of equal starts?! That would just totally kill this and make the game unbalanced and random. Halo 4 is already random and unbalanced because you don’t only start with a battle rifle and a frag. It’s so random. Man what’s up with people spawning with different guns that’s random and unskillful. If you aren’t only spawning with the battle rifle and nothing else and go potentially several games before having a chance to use only the rockets or the sniper it is random and not halo.
Alright guys, I think this thread has run its course. Now people are just attacking each other using sarcasm and it has stopped being funny. What we have now is just a bunch of non-constructive posts that don’t lead to anything good.
