In Halsey’s Journal, she mentions the Mark VII could perform limited shaping of the energy shield.
This includes “partial overlaps, parafoils, etc.”
Could this be a clue as to what new AAs we’ll have in Halo 4?
Partial overlaps could be something of an Overshield. Parafoils could mean jumping from great heights and “sailing” down. I also could imagine some sort of energy dagger that could be made. Or even a energy wall.

OT: it’d be sweet to have an ability that lets you glide down from height. That’s exactly the sort of thing that’d work great in Halo 4.

but in MM, the spartans we are using are Spartan 4s and it was never confirmed that the armor they have on is Mark 7, nor has the armor MC has on been confirmed to be Mark 7

It’d be great to see, but nothing has been confirmed as far who is using the Mk 7.
MC’s Armour is like a 6.5. It was mentioned in Halo: Glasslands that the Molnjir Armour repairs and Upgrades itself in cryo. 5 years of cryo puts his new Armour into perspective.

I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to customize to a Mk.7.
Your still a Spartan, and no rules in mm say that a Spartan 4 can’t wear chief new armour.
I think we’ve already seen the parafoils ability(if there is any). the Spartans in the Halo 4 video were appearing to jump higher than normal.

How do parafoils using shields that overlap sound anything like Mass Effect 3?
There’s no way that’s hint for amour abilitys because bungie made reach (oviously) and bungie doesn’t know anything about halo 4 so how could they give us a hint? My opinion.
