I have a new idea for an alien. Now it is only a general idea. I figure it would be cool for there to be a race who is non combative. Something modeled after Gondi or the hobbits.
There are the engineers which are generally non combative.

And hobbits technically existed in the Halo universe if you count the Florians, based off of the real-world -Yoink!- floresiensis.
Engineers are not a race they are instead tools of the forerunners. Phenotype94 is also right about Florians. There just seems to be to many warring races in halo and a purely peaceful super society would help balance that.

What about the Yonhet?
The Yonhet were a part of the Covenant Fringe. They believed in the Covenant religion, but was ultimately deemed not capable of military service. So they were not submitted officially.
I’m down for new alien races and such, but sadly it seems violence between aliens (including humans in that terms because we are aliens to the other aliens) is the prime driver of the story. I wish it wasn’t all the time, but 'tis how it is.

Agreed. More needs to be done with the Yohnet. Asides from an appearance in Halo: Escalation, so for I think they’ve only been featured prominently in Halo: Nightfall. Right now it looks as though 343 only created the Yohnet because they didn’t have the funds to use any more CGI and they couldn’t create a convincing Unggoy out of prosthetics and stuff. So they had to bring in a Rubber-Forehead Alien.
I’d also like to hear more about the Covenant fringe in general.
