New Additions Will Increase Skill Gap

The skill gap in Halo 5 i feel will be huge this is what Halo needs to be learning the new mechanics and using them in a firefight will separate players by a huge amount. Knowing when to thrust and not and just being aware of all situations, I can see it now people trying to ground pound etc just thrust out the way and mow them down as you know bad players will try to use this mechanic a lot and get owned.

Also having it so you can only thrust once every 4 seconds and not use it constantly aka COD means you have to actually think about when you use it and can’t just use as a get out of jail free card any time you like. Of course also again now controlling the power weapons and map will be all important again and you will be able to predict and control choke points no more over head flying jetpacks thank god.

Halo “veterans” are not used to learning curves or new tactical nuances. They want the same old simple Halo game over and over. They are too stubborn to learn new tricks.

After looking at more gameplay, I do have to say it does look balanced. Only thing I think should be taken out or adjusted is the ground pound.

Perhaps, But you have to admit;

The Ground Pound looks Badass.

Yes but like i said earlier ground pound will be very situational and only catch out unaware enemies bear in mind you have to have a height advantage to use death from above I do not feel it will be any more groundbreaking than assassinations if somebody dies from one it is their fault for not being aware nothing to do with game and bad mechanics etc.

Necropost!
I agree completely. This will add a whole new level of competitiveness(?) to the game. Especially if the maps are designed around it (which they seem to be).

Exactly! it’s just like the assassination. Yo could just melee someone from the back or you can stylishly assassinate him. With the ground pound, you can just shoot someone or jump and melee him, but hey! you can ground pound him like a BAD -Yoink-.

Sounds like OP liked Halo 4 a lot and if not maybe he should go back and revisit that game. In my opinion worst Halo mp was 2 and 2nd worst was 3 and I loved 3. While I am at it I gotta say I agree with you but Halo 4’s biggest problem was not so much the design of the game but rather the design of the maps. The map design in Halo 4 were horrible completely below average when they weren’t being horrible. Best maps were in Halo 3 and then reach and reach is my number 1 pick but I still say Halo 3, reach, Halo 1 had best map design. The reason why is because it was innovative and the expansive maps were actually very fun to play. I actually got a game going in the MCC with Halo 1 it was 4 vs 3 in a big team battle and was laughing and having a good time online even though no voice chat was present. Halo 1 just has a great way of making you laugh and have a good time even when you die.

Actually I didn’t mind Halo 4 but I am not a huge fan of it mostly because of the unbalanced starts no weapons on map and no rankings system and yes most of the maps were poor as you say. My favourite all time Halo for multiplayer was actually Halo 2 as it was a balanced game when you took out all the cheats hacks etc and did take skill to play also in my opinion it had the best maps of all the games released to date.

Point being though I have played those game and enjoyed them all a great deal and Halo needs to change or it will eventually disappear take the MCC for example I still love all the games but Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 all feel a bit outdated with no sprint etc and they do feel very slow to play now days fun yes? Will they be able to survive long in the current market? For a little while yes 6 months a year maybe? However I do feel the population will eventually die down quite a lot the only thing i feel may keep it going is the ranking system people love to be competitive and prove they are good at something this is the main thing i feel halo needs.

Also this thread I guess will get buried because I make some points as to how the new additions can work and anyone who hates the idea of change does not want to reply to in this thread because perhaps I make goods points and it conflicts whit their point of view?

How high a skill gap would ppl consider optimal? Surely if its too high then new players will be discouraged from picking up the game?

Not at all the higher the skill gap the better it is for the game but what they must do is add a ranking system and matchmaking system that is sufficient and balanced that matches you up properly with players of similar skill to yourself this will keep the matches even and keep you playing the last thing anyone want is game after game to get annihilated that turns people away.
