Never won a match but ranked diamond in ffa?

I came in second 7/10 games and had a positive kd in my qualifiers yet some how came out Diamond.

I am really confused on the formula for ranks. Is this giving me a placebo effect of how good I am? Because I consider myself a filthy casual and barely average at the game.

I don’t know for sure, but I would assume that the FFA playlist ranking algorithm is not as heavily dependent on whether you win (compared to the other team Arena modes) considering that only one player can win per game. Getting 2nd in 70% of your placement matches, with (what I would assume) increasingly more difficult opponents sounds pretty good to me.

Yeah my last few matches I was raging because I was playing against 4 or 5 platinum or higher players and coming on 4th or lower

I won my first 3 placement games, then i had a horrible run of average to poor games and still somehow managed to grab an onyx rating lmao.

I managed to get into onyx for FFA and haven’t won since, and usually score 3rd or 4th place.

I don’t think bronze is even possible, so this makes sense. I am thinking about making a new name and loosing every game on purpose BADLY to see where I get put.

Well if you are in a room full of Onyx with a bunch of 3rd’s and 4th it sounds like you are in the right area.

I have 4 more placement matches to go…I was being paired with onyx 1500’s beforehand, now it’s matching me with onyx 2000s, god help me. ;_;

I got 1st in 1/10 games. The rest were mostly 3rd and 4th. I got put in Onyx after 10 games. I think that sounds right. I ended the games higher than the majority of the players even though I didn’t win

I think in FFA, it should be based a bit more on personal performance than placement. I’ve seen games where 2 or 3 players have run away with it and have got a 10 kill gap to 4th, I’ve also seen games where 6 or 7 people are all in with a shout of winning. Coming 4th in both of these scenarios takes different levels of performance but still gives you the same rewards for your CSR

i am loving the responses and discussion, maybe i dont give myself enough credit in my own skills and how i compare to others.

i just never thought i would get higher than platinum in anything

i suck at breakout and deserve my silver rating and still pissed i ranked gold in slayer because that was the first thing i jumped in without learning the maps or playing with the new mechanics

Bronze Silver Gold Platinum Diamond Onyx Champion

Bronze = Poor

Silver = Fair

Gold = Average

Platinum = Above Average

Diamond = Good

Onyx = Semi-Pro

Champion = Pro

dont need to. Bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, onyx. HCS is highest 200 players in a game mode. Onyx rates 0 to some number 0 being worst

not a good reason

if you played ALL 10 qualifying matches together then you might have a point

but it is a weird algorithm
