So I may hit a nerve but I feel like I should post my thoughts. I never played halo wars as I thought playing this genre on a console would be awful. Mind you I cut my teeth on original Warcraft and Starcraft, those we’re the games I played as a overweight nerdy pre puberty kid. So when halo wars came along I never touched it and still haven’t. Yesterday I happened to catch E3 right when the trailer was rolling so I figured why not I’ll give it a shot. Downloaded it, fired it up, and played for 4 hours. I loved it. Maybe the halo 5 sweatiness has made this kick my feet up game more enjoyable.
My underlying point here is maybe 343 is targeting folks like myself or new comers in general. If so, it’s certainly working for me as I plan to spend more hours in the same gamemode on the same map trying different build, commander powers, combination of units, and expanding speeds.

Seriously though, if you love this game I think you should consider the ultimate edition because that comes with the original halo wars game. I think you’ll like that too (I love it).

Probably so. It’ll be hard for me to dislike a halo game no matter how awful it is. I will end up getting the ultimate edition just not preordering it.
Lol I played a match against you in h5 recently OP. Also glad you like the game, my biggest problem is the laggy UI
If you like this, you should enjoy the first one as well. Major difference in controls though. As he said above me, Ultimate Edition is for you.

It is laggy, but I feel that’ll get ironed out as they gather more data. Hopefully there’s a large enough player base banging away at this thing. Did I take a good ol whipping? Looking at your stats it looks like I may of lol.
In the beginning your team was winning my group was doing bad. I recognized your gt because you killed me when I made a dumb decision and when I read your gt I thought “hmm wonder why his gt isn’t QueenAnnsRevenge?” in the end we got it together and pulled the win. gg though =)

It’s great to hear that someone is having a blast with the beta! Keep that up!
Just as Blues said, you should go for the ultimate edition, the first Halo Wars is a great game with a nice story and a multiplayer which stays fun for a very long time. I still play it with a friend of mine!

It’s seems to be a blast with a buddy. That’s how I played most of my matches last night. I think we’ll both get the ultimate edition just to play it together. The sheer fact that you can kick you feet up and sit a little further back in the computer chair and have the game on in the background will make this game work for me.

It’s always more fun when you have a friend to play with, keep it up! I hope you guys keep having fun together.

I was seeing so much hate and wondered if it was because I didn’t play the first one. Most of the concerns I saw here was based on something being different from the first.
I never played Halo Wars either, this is my first time playing. I am less than impressed and hate the control.

That was my fear but fortunately could get the hang of it. I’m still looking forward to the potential of a PC beta coming later this year. Scrolling further out would be nice and hopefully on the PC you can navigate using the minimap.

People are complaining about stupid stuff in the beta lol. Like bugs and glitches, its a beta, get over it. I love the direction this game is going so far. lol.
