So I need some clarification on the matter.

I want to download the now free Halo map packs (Thank you 343i!!) and play them. If I want to play them on my Xbox one, how do I do that?

Can I put my 360 game discs in my Xbox one or do I need to buy the digital version of the game on my Xbox one?

In order to play the map packs, do I need to download the map packs on both my Xbox one and on my Xbox 360 consoles so that I can play the map packs depending which console I want to play?

any info is greatly appreciated.

As the older titles (minus the OG titles for the original Xbox) have been green-lit for backwards compatibility, you can simply insert the original 360 discs into your Xbox One and download the accompanying map packs for free on the very same console at no additional cost.

No need to do the same process on the Xbox 360 (if you have one).

to clarify that; CEA/3/ODST/and 4 haven’t become backwards compatible yet. They are scheduled to be made backwards compatible at some point in 2017.

Thanks for your replies chaps, but what about other downloadable content that I’ve bought?

for example on Halo 4 my character has pre-order armour. Would this show up on my character when playing on my Xbox one with my Halo 4 disc?

I’ve also noticed that the map packs are going free now. But the Halo Reach Noble pack isn’t free? Will this become free?

Yep any other DLC on your account should be accessible on your Xbox One. Once the backwards compatible games has been installed, go to manage game and you should be able to install the additional content from there. Been a whole since I did it myself, so the process have changed / be slightly different.

The issue with Noble is being worked on, it will hopefully be free pretty soon.
