Why is it, when you have a weapon challenge like get 10 rocket kills, you can play 10 rounds of fiesta and never see a rocket once. At least with battle rifle and pistol you can go to another game mode and start with the weapons you need
the game does this with game mode related challenges too like oddball and ctf, that’s why there’s only four challenges active at once so an algorithm can block you from getting these things so you will keep playing for hours
I had that same challenge for 10 rocket kills. I also assumed like you that Fiesta would be an easy way to knock it out. I started keeping track and it took over 100 lives in Fiesta for the game to finally spawn me with a rocket launcher. When it finally did, there were only 2 seconds before the match ended. At that point, I got fed up so I switched modes and just looked for Streets and Bazaar, which spawn rockets on the map. Camped the spawn and finished it in 2 games.
Currently, I am trying to get wins in Total Control. Based on the playlist for BTB that game type should come up about 1 in 4 games. But my current rate is 1 in 10.
The game is definitely rigged based on your active challenges.
That’s disgustingly bad luck. I did wonder about doing this myself at times in Fiesta after spawning with a plasma pistol for the 3rd life in a row!
Huh… I thought Fiesta doesn’t even work for weapon specific challenges. At least I don’t remember any of mine doing it.
Luckily, a lot of the challenges do work in vs Bot modes as long as a game mode or pvp isn’t in the description for the challenge.
Yeah. My challenge said to kill enemy Spartans with the rocket launcher in PVP. It counted 3 out of 10 done in Fiesta but I noticed it was not spawning me with rockets as often as I thought it would. The 3 kills I got were from a rocket launcher I picked up from a dead enemy.
So for “science” I decided to not pick up any rockets from the ground and just see how often I would spawn with them. Once I got over 100 lives without getting spawned with rockets I decided that was a bad way to complete the challenge.
Obviously I can’t say the system is definitely rigged but that’s some really bad RNG if not.
I’ve noticed they tend not to count when the enemy is absolute. It seems like you need to kill them from full health.
I’ve run into this a ton with the mangler challenge.
If I remember correctly, meleeing with the weapon doesn’t count for whatever reason yeah? I remember having a hard time not shoot and booping people with the mangler because it never registered them as kills with the gun…
Yeah the melee doesn’t count. Which is annoying since that is the weapons main utility…
What I have encountered is, an enemy who is one-shot, when killed by the mangler shot. Doesn’t count.
The only way I have been able to consistently make progress on this challenge is to shoot and kill them from full shields.
I’ve run into way too many enemies who have no shield, killed them, and make no progress.
-v-
dunno what you’re on about, but within like a game or two, i can clear weapon related challenges in fiesta with ease. perhaps you’re just having bad rng in a rng based gamemode
You haven’t caught on by now dude. The challneges system is specifically design to make you want to swap challenges.
And since you don’t get unlimited swaps players are more incentivised to Buy those swap bundles.
Toolegitified you are correct. I had the mangler challenge today to get 3 kills and it took 6 because kills on their last thread of life didn’t count. I can’t say for 100% certainty they had to be at full health, but I know when shields were down it didn’t count.
Glad you’re observing the same problem. Full health was basically my safety net so that I knew it would count. ![]()
I always just know if I kill someone while they are one-shot…I better pick up some more because that won’t work. And I’ve seen this occurring with other weapons as well.
I put in a support ticket for this particular issue as well. I explained that this is impacting all weapon challenges…and the support person asked me to put in an individual ticket for every weapon. I don’t have that kind of time so I only put in the mangler ticket for now lol.
@SharkPHD if you feel like putting in a support ticket for it as well that’d be cool. I got the vibe that support didn’t believe me lol.
I have encountered this problem as well and realised long ago you needed to do most (if not all) of the damage yourself to get credit towards a weapon challenge except…
In a BTB game recently I had a challenge to get a kill with a pulse carbine. I killed someone who was already one shot with my carbine and it counted. I then realised a teammate had done most of the damage to them with a pulse carbine too. So perhaps it’s all about the particular weapon doing most of the damage rather than you specifically.
I hope I explained that OK.
