Just got banned from multiplayer for “unsporting behavior” after sitting on a loading screen and timing out multiple times. While I know it banned me for quitting matches, I never even got into any matches so I am lost as to how the system could ban me for that. Anyone else have this issue?
Unfortunately any system that bans for leaving matches repeatedly will also ban those having network problems; there is no good way to differentiate the two.
The game makes no difference between quitting, your network dropping or the server dying. I remember near launch getting banned for 10 minutes after the servers went down, twice.
343’s response was “Oops - teehee”.
Just kidding, they didn’t address it.
I was banned for joining matches in progress that ended with in 10 seconds of loading in. I was in the btb playlist. Why is there bans enabled on casual playlists? Especially when the game allows players to join matches in progress. I can understand why someone would quit in casual btb. I’ve been in matches where my team has slaughtered the objectives, and choosing to slay out the rest of the match. Where the other team is just not skilled enough, oh wait it’s casual.
This has happened a few times to different people I gather. Go into your fileshare, watch the match in question and record on your xbox (if youre on xbox) then submit a ticket. You should be near enough immediately unbanned.
Long winded, but the only way to deal with this at the current time.
Google “halo infinite submit a ticket” then follow the instructions (I copied below - cant post a link because waypoint is a potato):
- Log into your account in the top-right corner of this Support site.
- Visit the current Known Issues article for the game and check to see if your issue is already listed.
- If your issue is listed, no further action is needed. We are aware of the problem and working on it.
- If your issue is not listed, follow the next step.
- Scroll to the bottom of any article and click the Submit a ticket button below the “Was this article helpful?” feedback area:
It’s a sign that 343 is very out of touch with any reality. Banning people for leaving the matches is just plain stupid. Sure, it should be punishable in the fabled ranked mode but other than that, what’s the deal here?
Is there any other current game which does that except MCC and S…Infinite?
It’s doubly annoying because of the idiotic challenge system which clearly forces you to skip matches you don’t ever want to play.
Let’s put it this way:
If it takes 343 6+ months to add 1 new 4v4 map, how long it will take until someone notices your ticket? 10 years?
It’s an autoban system based on how long people are spending in matches before leaving. Frequent disconnects will result in a ban.
Dont agree. Leave multiple games on purpose? You should get banned - it ruins games for others.
Absolutely right - the challenge system is a DOG
Same problem after a loading screen. I am banned now.
It’s been happening a lot lately. A post or two on here complaining about more AFKers lately that I’m pretty sure are just people stuck in the loading screen.
wouldn’t the simple way to check if the user has left the match or suffered a disconnection to offer a reconnection option? and if the user returns they aren’t penalised… idk i’m dumb
You could set it up to track when users quit by hitting the quit game button, but doing so would just incentivize users to tab out and disconnect their internet.
