Netcode, DeSync, and Lag Issues

Has anyone else noticed huge network and lag issues lately? I mean on day one we all noticed issues with getting killed around walls and such, but I feel like its been getting a lot worse, I hope the Dec 8th patch fixes a lot of it but its been pretty bad lately.

Anyone else experiencing similar desync issues, lag, or general netcode bugs?

Absolutely, honestly it varies so much from game to game its a bit frustrating. Also went from playing on a 5ms server to a 205ms server the other day. Not a fun experience for that match lol

Had to stop playing. Too many trippy things were happening in the game.

I played ranked and saw an enemy walk right by my friend and they didn’t shoot each other, I killed him but he never reacted to me shooting, my friend said he was still in the building on his screen and just died. I wonder what it actually looked like on their screen. :joy:

Oh boy sounds like Asia and Far East Europe have discovered free to play halo infinite and are overloading the servers.

Whelp, time for region lock maybe?

Over the last 2 days for sure, getting some extremely laggy matches. Just had to hide in one a few games back because I was 1 for 9 and kept lagging backwards while running… couldn’t kill anyone.

honestly I dont think thats the issue, I think the netcode might just be -Yoink!-, which is probably why collision is disabled and splatter kills are wack

That’s fair, could be they don’t have all servers up and running prior to launch day and the current existing servers are just getting full? This resulting in netcode issues, latency, and lag?

I honestly think it just sucks lmao, I don’t think it’s a server issue, I think it’s a netcode issue, because you can find clips out there of what a player sees, vs what the server recorded. It can be pretty unsynchronized

once or twice
outside of that maybe 2 crashes 2 weeks ago
oh and I should state that I play on xbox with a wired connection with on average 90+ mbps download

Okay you right lol

Maybe that’s why they need the monetization so they can fix the servers and netcode? Oops did I say that out loud?

The gaming industry almost feels like it’s declining, either that or the advances in technology have raised the bar on expectations for a game at launch.

Either way 343 has a lot of work to do still in order to polish the game, to include netcode and dedicated servers

If I get thrown into a join in progress BTB game, I hover around 200-300 ping lol. Usually it’s around 20.

Yes. Desync is very, very bad in this game and has been since the original flights.

Bad enough that it’s a top rated, awarded, post with multiple video examples on the Halo Subreddit that’s been acknowledged by 343 themselves.

Yes, it makes some of my ranked games unbearable like I’m a full second behind almost in some BR duels. Then other games it’s perfect

Had this issue since i started playing major stuttering, one time it even caused me to drive a warthog off a cliff WITH A PASSENGER. UNACCEPTABLE ! Lag should not cause me to kill myself and an Ally.

The Azure servers that 343 uses have probably never been hit with a load this hard. I hope they get them sorted out by launch or sometime after :]

I’ve been getting tons of matches where I am rubberbanding. I’ve looked at my connection and everything appears to be fine. The game is not fun in these circumstances and I wonder why I should even play if I can’t get a consistently good connection. How can they be botching this game so bad?

I hope so too the two times Ive driven off of cliffs due to lag is unnaccptable when i’m forced to take 2 players out of the game temporarly because of stutter or lag, it’s just wrong

Just tried to snag a ghost with the grappleshot and the netcode screwed me out of it. Full blown nullified my use of the equipment.

if your hijacking you need to Hold E, if you didn’t know i don’t know about entering empty seats, though.

Real interesting observation. Player collision being disabled would definitely mask crappy netcode. And melee is one of my biggest gripes on the ‘game play’. For me, it’s absolute rubbish, phasing through opponents, swings and misses, those little (and sometimes big) melee lunges that your opponent does to melee you while you just stand there and swing like an idiot. Being shot through and around obstacles is nothing compared to that trash.
