I’m playing from Asia, so latency is just a fact of life for me., especially on Xbox games. But Halo Infinite is bordering on unplayable for me. I’m not sure if it’s net code, or the servers themselves, but I can honestly say I have never felt so punished by the game as I am by Halo Infinite.
I’ve been out here since Halo 3. I’ve played all the Halo games, I’ve played Destiny, I’ve played COD. I know what latency in FPS games feels like. In all those games, I’ve had good latency games, and bad latency games, but even in bad latency games I was still able to compete. In Halo Infinite, I’ve had to give up on things like ducking behind cover because I’ll still be getting shot a second later. I can’t try to get the drop on enemies rounding corners because they’ve already been shooting me since before they rounded the corner on my screen. Every game I’ll have enemies just pop into existence after they’ve already started shooting me. I’ll have melees whiff every game. I’ll unload an entire clip of BR or AR into a player, and their shields won’t even be down. There is something seriously wrong if this stuff is happening with supposedly 120-150ms ping.
