Nerfing Personal Ordnance: Points

Note: I am against Personal Ordnance’s return in Halo XB1. However, in the event 343 decides to bring it back, I’d rather see 343 nerf it.

The one big deal Personal Ordnance in Halo 4 brings is a snowball effect that allows players to get more points at a faster and easier rate when using Power Weapons, and Power Ups. This, along with static or random spawns, can lead to a large amount of power weapons or powered up spartans on the map. If players JiP in, or have a really bad start, this can make it even harder to make a comeback, especially when the enemy team camps with said ordnance and get more ordnance that way.

What I propose is a new set of rules for ordnance to go along with the Personal Ordnance:

> 1- Power Weapons do NOT fill the Ordnance Meters when used to kill players.
> A: Assists, and Distractions can also fill the meter.
>

> 2- Whenever a player is under the effect of a Power Up(Overshield, Damage-Boost, Speed-Boost), they cannot gain any points, regardless of whatever weapon they have.
> A: Assists can also fill the meter. Distractions do NOT fill the meter due to the Overshield and Speed Boost allowing the player to increase their chance of survival.

> 3- These rules shall be in effect, regardless if picked up from the map, or by picking them up from a Personal Ordnance.

To me, this can definitely reduce the amount of Ordnance on the map, and allow more focus on maintaining the power weapons, and give players a better chance of making a comeback through the Ordnance system without getting too many benefits.

What do you guys think? Need more to it(besides getting rid of it, which I’m fine with)?

Makes it better but still doesn’t fix the underlying problem that players are getting random weapons, essentially at random.

The only way I could think of fixing that would be to have a way to display their progress towards their PoD from the in game score sheet or some other fashion, or just putting PoDs on a timer. Course, that latter option delinks PoDs from any semblance of skill and you’re just gifting weapons to people.

Maybe if PoDs operate as you have suggested but when earned, don’t spawn on the player but rather have a delayed spawn on the map with a waypoint showing the weapon/buff and a timer for all to see. PWs/PUs earned this way would be fixed based on the map and traits editable in Forge.

Ultimately it might just boil down to leaving PoDs for social and removing it and Sprint from competitive gametypes.
