Omg it’s nearly made the game unplayable if this doesn’t get addressed 343 I can guarantee I will not purchase any future games from you the community has been asking for this since launch and you refuse to do anything as of yet I have a good friend that likes breakout but has stopped playing h5 solely because of Spartan charge ruining breakout and I don’t blame him I font understand how you can get weapon balance spot on and not see that this ridiculous ability is outrageously overpowered get your -Yoink- together 343 seriously stop worrying about -Yoinking!- weapons skins and reqs and start caring about stuff that matters
Edit: It seems like lots of people don’t know exactly how the charge works, you Sprint get to full speed and your reticule changes letting you know you are now able to charge, what some ppl don’t know is that once your reticule turn red the charge locks on and no amount of a strafing, jumping, or thrusting will help. There in lies the issue I’ve had it follow me around corners, off of ledges, I’ve had it dash in the air and hit me it’s unreal. Therefore if you want to dodge it you have to time it precisely even if you see it coming you have to thrust out of the way BEFORE they activate it, this is nearly impossible unless the enemy is running directly at you. It simply does not need to have this lock on ability. It has turned into the worst panic melee also, skilled players don’t Sprint around corners we slow down plant our feet and be ready to shoot, but this ability rewards bad play. Also I can jump over another Spartan if the are standing in front of me, but numerous times I have seen the red dot behind me on the motion tracker and tried to jump in the air and thrust backwards to get behind my attacker but to my surprise it still get clipped by it. Also if I run get to top speed and thrust it does not cover as much distance as if I were to Spartan charge, doesn’t make sense if I time it right I should be able to backpedaling a bit then thrust backwards to avoid it but it’s impossible because the charge distance is greater than the thrust distance. Also you can be getting shot thrust back into cover then simply Sprint out and activate Spartan charge, you should not be able to use it when your thrusters are on cool down.
So here is my solution to balance it, remove the lock on completely, shorten the range by maybe a third and make it so you can’t use it while your thrusters are on cool down. This way you still have a ranged melee attack but an attack you have to be more careful about using. In its current state it rewards playing poorly and sprinting headlong into bullets and around corners
Good grief, Spartan Charge isn’t as big of a deal as it is. It’s just like Armor Lock (as said above me) was in Halo Reach. I actually think that armor lock is much worse than Spartan charge, but that’s my opinion. If he’s charging your face, just get an easy perfect or thrust to the side. If he’s running behind you and kills you, he probably would’ve killed you having the element of surprise anyways. It isn’t a one hit kill to the face, so it could be a lot worse like other games. I think quitting Halo 5 just because of Spartan charge is overreacting. Taking a break is great, but don’t get to worked up about it. Tired of getting Spartan Charged, use it yourself.

And yet this whole time, you didn’t specify what’s wrong with it, or how to make it better.
Literally I Have no clue why people think this is so game breaking. Ok lets say they do get rid of it, now what? People would still run at you but instead of doing the spartan charge animation they would just give you the good ol fashion punch to the face, and to make it even worse punching is more controllable compared to a spartan charge and still accomplishes the exact same thing. Then everybody would ask for melee to be removed. You just need to get over the fact that you suck against it and actually try to combat it instead of complaining about it in the forums, and that goes for everybody who decides to post another topic about this “problem”.
I’m for removing it completely, although armor lock would be worse. But all that needs to be done is if you get shot while in full sprint, you fall out of sprint. That would solve the problem of people just sprinting around the map aimlessly, looking to charge into people rather than shoot them (because they are probably terrible shots).
I just don’t like Spartan-charge in certain game-types, like swat for example. Nothing worse than a game-mode about head-shots and constantly being Spartan-charged. That or they should have 0 melee damage haha.
