Nerf Spartan Charge

Before any of you guys come in here and simply state ‘‘get gud kid’’ I’d like to ask you to actually discuss this topic instead of nuthugging 343i or saying ‘‘you’re just bad if you can’t counter it’’.I can counter it, the point of the matter is at it’s current state it’s too easy to abuse it.

Spartan Charging is most of the time fine to use when used infrequently but the sheer amount of players using this as their primary form of attack is astonishing.I’ve been around since CE and Halo has always been a game reminiscent of chess. If you make a bad move it could be checkmate for you and you die…Spartan Charge allows players I’ve made 1 shot and am hunting down to recouperate , camp a corner, sprint for 1 second towards the edge of the corner, charge me and potentially kill me. Most of the time it doesn’t succeed but the times it does they’ve just been given a 50/50 get out of jail free card. I’ll probably survive but when I die I rage.
Why do I rage ? Because for 14 years I’ve been playing Halo the same way and all of a sudden we’re told ‘‘sorry but this is a better way of playing Halo’’.It’s not. These abilities, though they can be tactical, have been added to make the game easier on people. Spartan Charging is to Halo 5 what Armour Lock was to Halo Reach.People will complain and moan about it until 343i does some fixes and hopefully removes it in Halo 6.

My tweaks and fixes for Spartan Charging :
1 - Give it a charge up time of 3-4 seconds before you can initiate a Spartan Charge ( akin to the Titan Shoulder Charge in Destiny ) - in its current state it’s the optimal tool for breaking another teams set-ups and power positioning. This is a key aspect of Halo - communication to control the map.
2 - Reduce the auto-aim and lock on distance - this is crucial …I’ve jumped from heights when I saw people trying to SC me and they’ve been dragged upwards into the air towards me. The auto-aim and lock on are crazy powerful.
3 - Change it from being a 1 hit kill in Breakout. It’s effectively a power weapon you give everyone at the start of the match at this point…ever been charged by 4 people are once ? …that will make you angry.

If you agree or disagree with any/all/none of these point check out a video I made on the subject - Leave a like if you like it and leave a dislike if you hate my opinions.

Couldn’t be bothered to read, sorry.

Dont bother nerfing it, just remove it, it’s too cheap.

As much as I agree with that I just don’t see them doing that with Halo 5.Maybe they’ll remove it from Halo 6 but at this point if it’s staying it needs to be tweaked. It’s way too powerful in its current state and yes it feels cheap being killed by it.Hence why I never use it.

I hear you.
Sorry, having bad day lol

you’re probably right that it’s staying. I don’t use it unless it’s accidental. Maybe it’s because I don’t intentionally sprint into enemies?
Actually I don’t sprint at all if there’s enemies about unless it’s trying to get to cover.
It feels cheap to die by it (yes I know it’s up to me to counter it) but I don’t not use it out of any principal, it’s just I don’t think sprinting into enemies is a good idea. Saying that, I’ve never been any good at cqc so maybe I’m just not good enough to use it.

Oh yes it’s really cheap. I want to see it, and sprint with it, gone.

I halo agree and half disagree, as far as SC being OP yes that may be the case but everyone gets it from the off so there isn’t an advantage/disadvantage amongst players.

however if it is going to be OP as it is then it needs to be more difficult to execute and to hit, which is where i do agree with you.

I personally dont really use it as i dont tend to sprint to often particularly in a gun fight. and like yourself im “old school” style player and i dont instinctively use it.

valid points though

Ye it’s not impossible to counter but the point is it’s in the game and right now people abuse the hell out of it. I’ve seen full teams of 4 spartan charging around the place, breaking map control and getting kills that in any other Halo title they would be unable to get.

It’s the whole MW2 formula. If everything is overpowered nothing is overpowered…I still don’t like it,think it’s cheap and that forcing Classic Players to evolve their gameplay style to be a lot cheaper just hurts the community. The amount of times in lobbies I’ve heard people scream ‘‘effing spartan charge’’ is insane. Even higher levelled players dislike it which is saying something seeing as this game was aimed at the competitive players for Arena. In Warzone it works, there are vehicles you may need to counter,I can see how it could be used in that sense , but in Arena it ruins the flow previous titles have had…IMO.

if that was the case ( which i dont doubt) surely this is where customs come into play and just simply disable it ? or maybe introduce a voting system in the matchmaking lobby to enable/disable certain functions or limit to certain weapons etc

just remove spartan charge altogether. people abuse it so much and its a not needed ability

yep.Ground pound has a high risk reward factor…spartan charge doesn’t.If I mess up a Spartan Charge I can just hit sprint and try again…if I mess up a Ground Pound I’m probably gonna get destroyed by the other team.

it really flourishes in modes without a motion tracker - i.e swat and breakout.

most people don’t know how to use audio cues to detect from which direction players are coming, and it gets them rammed. if you haven’t yet, try spartan charging someone while having a speed boost active, it nearly doubles your charge range (that is what feels broken) and makes it damn impossible to miss (for most).

The spartan charge is a reward for not being aware. You can run into a room and see someone last second hit the panic (melee) button and pick up a kill.
The most annoying thing for me about it is that it throws you out of melee range after they hit you.

tl;dr

All I have to say is adapt to be more aware

#respect … 14 years is a long time.
I remember Halo when it first came out … and now, here we are.

I remember those days where the only weapon you need was the pistol. well, Halo evolved and there’s multiple ways to eliminate your opponent. I do understand your issues with Spartan Charge - guess, what, how powerful the Spartan Charge is … there’s always other things your opponent can do to dodge it … so it’s all about balance. Hoping you’ll get enlightened and continue to enjoy this game.

If you still have more “rage” … why don’t we go hope on XBL and release our tension together and give it to the noobs who needs Halo Basic Training 101.
