Nerf SIDEKICK, range and magazine size

what is it with the nerf threads now a day’s.
are people now a day’s complaing so fast that there not wane work to master things good anymore and only are complaing to nerf it since other players that wane work and master then use it against then.

some people need to start learning that if you master weapons or vehicles that there become powerfull since people use then in the good way and not do crazy things with it.

I think this is a personal problem when looking at the arguments. The gun is fine how it is I’m not sure why you think its powerful tbh

YES! Having that secondary weapon can prolong your life majority of the times if you’re in a good position. Thank you for sharing fellow Spartan.

I agree that the assault rifle absolutely shreds in Infinite. I currently really enjoy the pistol ar start in majority of the playlists. In recent games I didn’t like it, but now I do. I find that the weapons have a good give and take relationship with one another. However, the ar is still very powerful at mid-range.

My take is,

I’d actually love to see better aim assist and more damage with the sacrifice of bullets per minute(speed) and range of the Sidekick. Im reaching, I know lol

However, I take it like, If someone keeps killing me with the Sidekick then they must be good with it. Its my LEAST favorite handgun in all of Halo but I can still get busy with it lol but I’d rather have a BR or even an AR in my hands tbh so I dont have a problem with the Sidekick at all.

Now moreover on my first statement and me saying that “…the Sidekick is my least favorite hand gun in all of Halo…”, I think the entire aiming on Halo Infinite could use work. Im someone who would like to see every single weapon get major damage buffs because of the ratty Sprinting in this Halo. Either that or allow bullets/projectiles to “Slow” opponents down when sprinting and interrupt Sprint/Slide movements when they get hit. But again, Im probably reaching again since things have gotten a little soft now days. You get more reward for sprinting than shooting it seems and thats all across the board in every FPS IMO… :man_shrugging:t6:

Sidekick is fine as is. Especially with the addition of weapon variants in season 3, the Stryker is the new CE pistol and I want to see it unnerfed for competitive gametypes.

I don’t think range is a problem, but rate of fire definitely is. I’d say turn up the recoil or bloom slightly, or turn down the rate of fire. Because right now it can pretty much beat both the BR and Commando, something which it probably shouldn’t be able to do.

If they were to nerf rate of fire it should only be a tiny amount. The sort of thing that 99% of the player base are never going to notice.

I love the AR so much…

The reason the Sidekick is OP is because it has an insanely high rate of fire. Someone clocked it at 365 RPM. And maybe it can go faster, but he was unable to tap faster. For reference, the Halo 5 magnum has a rate of fire of 150 RPM.

If you play on mouse or on a controller with triggerstops it is BEYOND OP and it can be used as a primary weapon. But on a regular controller it is far from OP and it can only be used for cleanup kills.

So in my opinion the easiest way to balance the Sidekick is to lower the max rate of fire. That way it becomes a cleanup weapon no matter what your input device is. To be honest I’ve been saying this since November 2021. But maybe 343 doesn’t read the forums or doesn’t care.

I think 343 noticed that the overall thought about the sidekick is that it’s good where it is.
Personally, I like the sidekick the way it is. It does good support with other weapons for combos.
It is satisfying to use when you’re close range and shoot fast bullets, although I am not a big fan of bloom.

To find a balance with some of your feedback, I would experiment by lowering the ammo damage on shield, so that you need 1-2 more bullets for a kill with only the sidekick. But I wouldn’t make it too weak, else we’d get the Halo 2’s magnum and it’s eeeeh.

Imagine not being able to spray down everyone with the AR at all times. How dare someone put in effort to learn how to use the precision weapons.

Nerfing the fire rate would buff the weapon. The bloom makes rapid firing pretty inefficient.

I can’t comment on whether it’s op or not… but it often seems like I’m getting killed with rapid fire pistols more than any other weapon. On a controller I just can’t fire it that fast… no matter how fast I tap the button, it only fires at a fixed rate.

But that doesn’t solve the problem that the sidekick can perform as a primary weapon on one input device and as a cleanup weapon on another input device.

Lowering the rate of fire is the only way. If 343 wants to keep the time to kill the same, they can even increase the damage per bullet.

I think every weapon should be viable as primary weapons, but I agree the sidekick has a little bit too much range. That is the only point I will concede

People talking about how they can’t fire fast enough on their controller as if to imply a mouse player is killing them every time. This is so unfair etc

Xbox has Elite controllers with hair triggers. Are you going to ban those too?
