Once there an no enimies remaining, then it waits for about 10 seconds, then 5 seconds to get the ships there, and 3 seconds to unload.

Sure it’s not just you? Also I like it: second round and onward they give you harder enemies to kill.
If you play firefight it’s only reasonable you have to suffer.
It’s always been that way in Arcadefight. The game waits for the dropships to fly away before starting the next round.

The NEP was made by someone in the community, it isn’t a MM Team gametype.
You are just imagining it, new rounds don’t start until the dropship has flew away and the new one is ready to spawn, they can’t change the delay with gametypes.
I haven’t noticed a thing in the new firefight, I played a lot of games of limited and had a blast. Most people still treat it like arcade and I snagged a few hero medals. The rush I felt when I saw and heard that, it was so awesome. New enemy progression, I said I haven’t noticed any change. In arcade it seems the same, and I found it strange the way each reinforcement wave has a dropship in limited, but that’s better; it gives you a chance to reload and get more ammo.
