Neil didn't do a bad job, Marty's just great

I see some people here are saying Neil Davidge did a bad job with the soundtrack. IMO the soundtrack is really good, great in certain areas, but as awesome his music is, it just doesn’t add up to Marty’s. Marty’s just a superior composer and wrote more classic songs (he’s the John Williams of video games). I hope Neil does return. and does bring back the monks.

Neil did bring back the Monks. What are you talking about?

Don’t be that guy that makes a thread in response to another. Just post in the -Yoink!- thread.

The only music I like in Halo 4 is the menu music, and even that is inferior to the Halo 3 menu music.

1 thing I loved about Halo was the awe-inspiring music, it was memorable, amazing and really made Halo stand out from other games, which for the most part have crap soundtracks.

I wish they’d stayed true to how old Halo music sounded, the new music sounds Indian.

Disagree

Nah, he just did a mediocre job. By this I mean, nothing stands out as memorable. The menu title theme comes closest but even that lacks any kind of punch. The original trilogy, Reach, and even ODST had themes that, to this day, stick out in my head.

The soundtrack, much like everything else in the game, simply “plays it safe” and, as a result, is forgettable.

Oh, and as an aside, whomever decided the retail OST should only have 15 tracks from the entire game should never be allowed to speak in marketing again. If I’m going to buy an OST, I want it to be a complete OST, not a shoddy compilation that doesn’t even include the menu theme.

Actually, I would like it if they had a different composer for both Halo 5 and 6. (3 composers throughout the Reclaimer trilogy). Prevents the music from getting stale.

Also, that guy who composed 117 should stay. That was probably the best track on the entire soundtrack.

Arrival (Music played in the last mission when you are planting Cortana to eject rampant copies)

117 (Music played at the start of the ending credits)

To Galaxy

Green and Blue

My four favorite songs.

> (he’s the John Williams of video games)

That would be Koji Kondo. Marty’s still good though.

The only music i liked in Halo 4 was the last mission´s music (Midnight)

Everything else was horrible.

I really love the Halo 4 Soundtrack. Fits the new Forerunner “feel” of the game perfectly! Neil did a fantastic job. I feel that the music even exceeds Marty’s work in some ways… but it honestly still falls short in others as well.
