I just want to tell you (if you ever come to this forum) that your first attempt on Halo was a total success , but I feel that it’s missing the halo essence , yes the voices singing : oh ooh oooh (halo theme lol)
BTW to galaxy is the best! And 117
Neil did an awesome job. I just wish he would have created his own version of Peril. Not hearing Peril in the game made me sad.
Marty < the universe < Neil
It’s an amazing soundtrack
I hope Volume 2 is just as good
They are making Volume 2?

You shut up now.
Marty is an amazing composer.

It is , but you don’t have to be rude man! Neil Davidge it’s amazing too, Stephen Rippy(Halo Wars Composer) is an amazing composer too , in my opinion it’s better than Marty
Yeah he is awesome his music fits halo4s universe great just got into the belly of the beast song
His music was decent. Too bad it wasn’t implemented well in-game.
I had a better experience by listening to his music as standalone music.

Thank the heavens!
Still would’ve liked a more classic Halo music experience. Not hearing the Manly Monks in the title screen or almost anywhere in the game was disappointing. Neil isn’t bad though, his spin was a good one.
> Marty > the universe < Neil
Fix’d
Neil is a great composer and he has what is in my opinion the most most difficult job in the whole studio. Making quality, original music isn’t easy.
However, there are some things I didn’t particularly like about the music in Halo 4. The opening from the main menu theme with the “female african chanting” to me felt very out of place for the Halo universe and doesn’t set the feeling well for when you start up the game. The war games lobby theme is very repetitive and quite unsettling. The themes weren’t as memorable or characteristic as the music from the first two games were. Lastly, some of the melodies used within the score are quite common and unoriginal.
I believe Martin O’Donnell did the best job with composing the scores for Halo 1 and 2. He did a perfect and majestic job.
The only thing the soundtrack lacked was the actual Halo theme. It’s Halo 4, there should of been a completely new variant of the Halo theme song in there.
Apart from that, I agree; Neil did a great job, hope he does it again for Halo 5 and 6.
Marty was great in ODST and reach. Halo 3 was just rehashed halo 1 and 2 songs. Im hoping halo 5 has the halo 2 guitar theme in it. That cant just get put aside. Its to awesome to be in only one game
I’m sorry but Neils music was so boring and bland, and very unmemorable if I listened to any of the tracks of couldn’t tell you when or where it was played. With marty’s music I can tell you exactly where it was played, not only that marty’s music helped give Halo an identity, his music has a big mix of feeling, emotions and provided many levels of atmosphere.
From being Mysterious, cryptic, dark, errie, sad and heroic he provided a spectrum of feelings from his music. His music imo really connected with the story and helped give it depth and richness to it. Neils music was so disappointing and dull and no way is it any where near the same level of quality as marty’s imo.
His music isn’t as unique and iconic as marty’s doesn’t stand out like marty’s either and has no sense of wonder, I can barely listen to any of Neils tracks from start to finish because it’s simply not enjoyable. And the female chanting is not appealing to me, I feel Neil tried to make some sort of replacement of the chanting monks a little bit and it was a poor effort.
Here is just one of many examples of how marty’s music is filled with mystery, curiosity and wonder. The vocals in this track are fantasric.
I think that Halo 4 has the second best OST in the series, I always put ODST’s first because it’s Journey/Shadow of the Colossus-tier IMO.
There’s not a single track in the Halo 4 OST I dislike, the only one I’m not quite as keen on is Ascendancy.
Legacy is the superlative Halo track for me, it’s the first one to topple In Amber Clad and Under Cover of Darkness as the best track in the series. Even before the game was released, when I heard this track I pictured the exact kind of scene this would appear in - a grand, empty Forerunner cathedral with John exploring alone with Cortana.
Requiem still gives me goosebumps. The game has been out for like 3 months now, but every time I replay the second mission and that track plays I still get those sensations of hair-raising awe.
Belly of the Beast, Nemesis, Haven, Solace, Immaterial, 117, Revival and Grren & Blue also stand as some of my favourite tracks in the series.
I agree, I love the album. Good job Neil!
Yeah, Neil Davidge did a great job, but not good enough for Halo. It lacks recognisable songs, Halo 4 is not a new game, but a continuation of a saga.
