My friends and I have waited and waited. We really want to preorder Halo4 but 343i will not release the specifics on the ranking system. We are unfortunately not playing/interested in the Campaign or Spartan Ops. Never have been for any Halo title for some reason. Die hard multiplayer competitive players here.
I have already lost the chance to preorder at the local GameStop but I think I still have Walmart as an option.
I am just wondering if they plan to say anymore about the ranking system before it is too late for me. I would really like to be in on some of the multiplayer exclusives they are tossing around.
I understand if I have to wait and just buy the regular edition if it is in stock on day one or after. I would love to buy the Limited Edition if they still have it since it comes with future DLC multiplayer access. Hope they do not run out of it before they finally release the ranking system information.
Why is it that everytime I see you post something, it is bashing someone for enjoying competitive multiplayer over casual gametypes/campaign. He has a right to his opinion and how he wants to spend his time on the game he paid $60 for.
Also, I have played Halo since the very beginning, but mainly enjoy competitive multiplayer at this point, but I still consider myself an avid Halo fan. So get off your high horse and don’t be tell people what they are and aren’t.

I have been in the same situation as you and am still waiting to hear about a ranking system as well. My suggestion is to preorder it and if you don’t like what you hear then just cancel the preorder. That is what I am doing.

If you’re not buying Halo 4 just because of the ranking system, sorry I got nothing to say to you.
Sucks dude, but from what we know, im pretty sure it was announced that thtere would be some sort of seperate skill rank. But the Skill rank is only visible to YOU and noone else. thats about all the info ive heard…
Also, try out the campaign… its pretty good (this is directed to past halo games if you still own them.)

Competitive mutliplayer isn’t the only thing in Halo. So you’re gonna spend $60 just to play mutliplayer? Just buy BO2 then, you’ll be disappointed with Halo 4 is thats all you care about.

Don’t worry about these guys broski. I would suggest looking at Neogaf or The Halo Council if you are interested in more competitive features in Halo 4 because most of the people around here will bash you for saying that you like a ranking system. Haters gonna hate…

But he likes Halo, not CoD. Also, neither of us said that competitive multiplayer is the only thing in Halo 4, it is just the only thing worth playing to us. We actually like a challenge in multiplayer unlike in CoD where you sit in a corner and wait. If the way we play our copies of Halo 4 bothers you, then too bad.

I am buying Halo 4 strictly for its multiplayer. Nothing else. The ranking system is detrimental for my experience to keep playing it.
I understand the a lot of people will like Campaign and Spartan Ops. But I am not paying to play that over and over. In fact, I never really touch the Campaign, Firefight, etc…

That’s the problem these days, everyone cares way too much about multiplayer and stats. That’s why there will be less and less good singleplayers in the future… At least Halo will always have an amazing Campaign.

How exactly? buying it just for multiplayer is one thing, but having the way numbers are arranged on a screen bothers you enough to stop you from enjoying something, you should look into some therapy because I think there’s a deeper issue here. (Being totally serious, I’ve never enountered anyone like that and it really kind of worries me.)

All except that’s not the only thing in Halo that’s made it popular. I never said it bothers me. The Halo Universe is bigger then just the multiplayer. That’s why I said, what I said about COD. People hardly even play the Campaign. Halo is loved and bought for it’s campaign and mutliplayer.

We’re not bashing him for liking the ranking system. For -Yoinks!- sake, what the hell do you think the rest of us are waiting for? I’m waiting for the ranking system info as well. A lot of us are.
It is hilarious how you go to the “number next to your name argument.” If the ranking system in Halo 4 is something like the 1-50 from previous titles, Yay! But we are not saying that it has to be that. We just want something to prolong the life of the game. You see, we are the real Halo fans who continue to play the game for years after it’s release while you have left it or traded it in after 2 months of play because the campaign or grifball has left its fun. So to give Halo 4 something to keep players coming back is a bad thing? I think you are the one that needs therapy if you just want people to throw away $60 for 5 hours of campaign/entertainment from Spartan Ops.

That right there. That is bashing someone. Good fight, glad to do it again sometime.

I can tell you already 1-50 isn’t coming back so you might as well just cancel your pre-order now. You are a real Halo fan? Ok then tell how a real Halo fan can care only about the multiplayer and say -Yoink- it to everything else. Sorry but yout definition of a real Halo fan is very different but the rest of ours.
