I have been on the forums for some time now, and have seen all the negativity on Halo 4 ever since the game released back in November. It is sad to see this hate and I just want to say that people need to give things a chance. Just because the multiplayer of Halo evolved does not mean that the game is terrible. When I first played the matchmaking of Halo 4, I was a little skeptical at first but leaned to love the game overtime. I have so much fun on it now. Give 343 a break, this is their first big game and they did a good job. Look at the game’s ratings it’s obviously not horrible. I love the new game and can’t wait to see where the story is going.
“this is 343i’s first game, they game’s good, but not great. 343i acknowledged the fact that this is not their best work, and that they can do better”
^ perfectly valid argument against hate mail
forums are supposed to encourage discussion, and constructive criticism, not be an Inbox for Hate mail
It doesn`t suck because it has changed.
It sucks because the changes suck.
Hate, Hate, positive post drowned by haters, hate, OP DMR, hate… etc. That’s the Halo 4 subforum for you!
I definitely agree with you, OP. I’ve said the same thing myself many times. The issues is, is that it’s easier to vent frustration at something than to instead address a problem and suggest solutions.
However, some of the frustration has been amplified by 343’s lack of response to certain issues. While I do believe that February was an excellent month for 343, they still have a ways to go. I’m happy with the progress they have made though.
i like halo 4
Halo 4 as a stand alone game is great. Halo 4 as a Halo game is watered down and gimmicky compared to past titles.
I gave this game a huge break to begin with, but over time my patience has been spread too thin. I spent the past months defending this game and 343i, but they have failed to address how they’re fixing KEY issues 5 months after the game came out!
I trusted them, and I hope that they realize how big of a hole they dug, and can find a way out of this mess. Until I see some serious progress and fixing these problems, I cannot attempt to help them any more.
It is literally impossible to logically defend them at this point, they need to pick up the pace. Or at the very least tell us what’s going on at their studio other than, “Everyone’s working hard!”.
I think Halo4 is good but not excuted the best. On MM terms, there are various things that i feel could be done to balance it as some weapons could be considered “OP” by most. I feel the playlist need to offer BOTH experience. The new one with the changes and the old school Halo. Or they could introduce ranked and social again as i belive this worked well in Hlo3. On the subject of changes, i do not think they suck, i think they are all good but could be worked again. The only change i feel that should be removed or optional is JIP! It does not work on Halo and tells WL ratio to go do one.
I think there is one main problem for me with Halo4. I think many would agree when i say is overall the game now is boring. I don’t know why but unfortunately it is like this for me.

Battlelog forums was worse, this is nothing compared to what that was.

Yeah okay, Halo 4 multiplayer has ‘evolved.’ Do you understand what evolution implies? In a nutshell, it’s supposed to be change for the GOOD. So far, the changes I’ve seen are not evolution; it’s change for the sake of change. 343 changed Halo’s formula so as to put their own stamp on it and try and make it pallatable for a wide range of gamers. In doing so, they’ve alienated a rather large following of the previous Halo titles, thus earning all this ‘hate’ you’re so sensitive to.
Get real.

Sounds like Stockholm syndrome to me.
What’s worse about the hate (proper hate, not constructive criticism), is that nobody is certain if it will ever make a difference to Halo 4. In some cases, it won’t eg where certain game mechanics etc are hard coded
If there were at least some indication that certain issues were being looked at by 343, I’d say the hating wouldn’t be as bad. In theory, anyway
Personally, I agree that things need to be given a chance. In some ways I have started enjoying Halo 4 MP more as time goes on. But there are some things that I will never get used to. Not because they are new, but because I hate the way they have been implemented.
You know what else happens over time with exposure to toxic materials (cod in this case)? Mutations, evolution is change for the better that will ultimately help you survive in the end. The change that has happend to halo is not an evolution it is a mutation.
I gave Halo 4 a good enough chance pre-launch, and even for some time post-launch. Some of the decisions made when designing the game really ruin everything, though.
I love playing Halo 4. It has come a long way since launch date. My biggest complaint is that the main slayer games are so riddled with random POWER weapons even I get frustrated at it. Infinity slayer is fun but it is like playing a game of shotty’s, fun yes but shouldn’t ever be your main slayer game.
I think if they had vanilla slayer where the teams are balanced, weapons on the map, no instant respawn, no personal ordnance, no custom load outs, AA’s as pick ups only this game would be a lot more fun for everyone.
Put the Infinity stuff in a social style playlist.

I agree with you. I am perfectly satisfied with Halo 4 although somethings could be changed and added/deleted. They have worked hard on these TU’s and weekly updates and all they get is ungratefulness.
I’ve always thought that better discussion could be had if the whole forum system was redone to make it clear to everyone where certain information should go. As of now, we just have a huge -Yoink- of information Flood-ing into the Halo 4 subforum. The creation of War Games Feedback and the separate Matchmaking subforums are great ideas. However, if 343 is truly open to substantial changes (which they don’t have to be! If they wanted, they could just say “shut up, play our game, we’ll do what we want”, but they’re said they are open to community feedback), they should really consider subdividing the flow of information a LOT further.
I’ve also been on a couple other forums for quite some time, and this is one of the worst layout-wise. It’s just a bad forum, I’m sorry. My suggestion would be to look at other forums in the wild and see what UI and UX strengths they have.
We all know that some people want to have a straight discussion. Like, let’s debate the pros and cons of this topic, or let’s just have everyone tell their story relating to this topic.
Then there are the bug reports.
Then there are the feature requests.
Then there is the hate mail.
Then there is the love mail.
Then there is the miscellaneous maybe-not-even-Halo-related stuff.
ALL of this information is being crammed into 2 or 3 subforums with no further organization.
Again, the current situation is just a -Yoink- most of the time.
I would like more ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTION here. Have staff members TELL US WHERE TO POST certain topics, and provide places to do so. If you want us to use Twitter, TELL US EXPLICITLY, like at the very top of the forums or something.
If you want us to ONLY TALK AMONGST OURSELVES, tell us that explicitly so that people won’t make open requests to 343.
Honestly I think this place just has too much traffic. This website is crap for handling this many people and their voices. That’s why I’m concerned about the organization. But people treat these forums like they will actually be heard. The problem is that you simply are not heard in a forum this busy. When you don’t think you’re being heard, you yell louder, which is why the hate mail is so high.
