Needler

has it suddenly become useless, or is it just me? I know it homed too much last time, but now just moving to one side throws it away, even at point blank range.

The needler is supposed to be a close range anti jetpack weapon, but now it’s just hopeless.

And having said all this, I think it says a lot that 343 are having to tune the sandbox, when in all the other halo games the sandbox was never, ever tweaked, because it was done well.

Regarding the Needler, it is a very, very host dependant weapon. If you don’t have host or you are playing on a poor host, don’t touch it. If you are, go nuts, it’s excellent.

Regarding the sandbox, I disagree. Halo 4’s sandbox is probably the most balanced ever featured in a Halo game. The reason that some weapons are causing such uproar is that they are no longer on map, but spawned with. This means that the loadout weapons have to be roughly equal to one another, else the weaker ones will never get used.

The fact that 343i are willing to balance weapons at all is also a good thing. It suggests they are aware they’re not perfect and will listen to feedback. How much so, we’ll see, but releasing an update on your sandbox admits openly you’ve made mistakes.

Needler isn’t very host dependent… Especially with something called “client trust”

So no, it doesn’t matter “who” has host but I agree with you as far as it requires a half decent host connection.

Remember the homing function could be described as the needles curving their trajectory towards their target. So at point blank the needles don’t have enough time to turn. So you want to be well out of melee range for good results.

The Needler is a midrange weapon. When the crosshairs are red, the needles you shoot will home in on your opponent, but they need time to do that, if you are too close they wont have enough time to correct their trajectory. I personally love it and always score 2-3 kills with it, and hardly anyone picks them up making them quite plentiful in a pinch.

This. I always try and pick one up. So many hundred more to go until I max it it completely.
