Personally I enjoyed the weapon in Reach, unlike the normal Needler it didn’t have a homing feature which balanced the weapon nicely. Just want to know other people’s thoughts.

I think it should be slowest firing but longest range of any non powerweapon, and as such very challenging to use.
I personally had no gripes with it in Reach, sure it wasn’t as fun to use as the DMR but it was still an interesting weapon, it also looks cooler then the Carbine in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I love the carbine. I just think the Needle rifle has a better design.

It was just a fun unique gun in Reach that never carried over to 4. Also agree that the design was awesome, I also love the Carbine (:
Make it fully automatic with headshot capabilty but increase the needle explosion requirement to balance it, I loved it in Reach.
I loved it, I wish the Carbine was like it’s slightly more powerful, yet not as slow firing Needler rifle brother.

Good idea, having to land shots in specific body areas would be challenging. 3 hits to the chest may be a bit OP though, maybe 5 or 4 for the equivalent of a what a normal weapon headshot would be, but for real headshots, 3 could work.

Im saying make it a mid range automatic with fire rate almost as high as the AR and give it headshot ability and increase detonation shot requirement… Would make it real different. Hell, design a whole new weapon around this idea. No needle tracking either Could be badass.

If we can have the BR and DMR, then there’s no reason we couldn’t have the Carbine and Needler rifle.
kind of a pointless weapon with the carbine. maybe make it a power weapon that takes 5 shots to kill and has needler tracking.
I don’t really mind if its in Halo 5 or not. But it was a pretty cool weapon.
I’m a fan. Its a more unique option than the Carbine is that is for sure, at least the Needle Rifle has some unique mechanics compared to both the Carbine and DMR.
It just too bad the DMR was also included in Halo 5(even though I do also like the DMR). It will simply lead to more ill-conceived suggestions that we should throw in both a NR and Carbine as well. Regardless the sandbox needs trimming and the NR is a better option in any case since the auto fire and supercombine give it some interesting balance consideration especially in campaign.
I really liked the needle rifle but I think it should stay in the past. Cool gun though.
LOVED the needle rifle, my favorite actually, even more so then the br or dmr. Would love to see it in Halo 5. Wouldn’t mind seeing the plasma launcher either. That was such a fun weapon to use.
I was never a fan of the Carbine, but I liked the Needle Rifle almost more than the DMR in Reach, so I would like to see its return in Halo 5 but only if it replaced the Carbine to reduce the number of weapon clones. It has to be either one or the other.

That could be interesting. I like what they did with the Lightrifle, they made it into a kind of support weapon rather than a contender with the BR or DMR, so perhaps they could do something similar with the Needle Rifle in order to include it and keep the Carbine as well without cluttering the sandbox with clones.
