The system in MCC meshes the rank and battlepass system well! Thought that was why it was implemented! Not having a rank in a game that’s supposed to be breathing life back into classic halo is just stupid!

The Halo MCC system is terrible for a new game. I personally like the linear BP as long as you can’t buy tiers.
I really don’t like the MCC battle pass system because MCC is not a free to play game lol why do I need to unlock things in a specific order? Just give me currency, lock some things behind certain ranks and let me spend how I want, it feels awful being forced to spend on things I don’t want because what I want is further down in the pass.

Yeah that’s fair, I mean in an ideal world, just give me reaches progression system lol
I feel like the exp ranks in Halo MCC are pretty pointless although I feel that with most games. I feel no joy or sense of progression for levelling up, the numbers are completely meaningless, especially as you get an arbitrary amount of exp after every game. Many people may disagree with that sentiment.
The only system that I ever really enjoyed was Halo 3 because you only progressed rank by winning games. There hasn’t been a multiplayer game in the last ten years where I’ve even noticed or cared what my exp level was.
Halo 3 was ideal as your ‘rank’ was based on skill but all the competitive playlists were well populated so it was pretty easy to find games with people around the same skill as yourself. Probably were still smurfs but I didn’t notice them as much as I do now, most likely because they could find games on their 50s.

H3 system was also my most prefered. Although even without the skill factor being as heavy (or relevant at all in recent games) I still enjoyed the completion and progression from it.
One day you’re complaining about forge/co op and the next progressive system. Like… what’s next?

I have no complaints about them dropping features as and when they are ready, I just have an issue with a progression system that doesn’t reward skill, just who can complete the most arbitrary tasks.

Its almost like the game has multiple issues.
MCC’s battle pass system is the silliest thing to ever be implemented in a video game.
