So after owning Reach for 1 1/2 years, I noticed a small crack stemming from the inner ring. Sometimes my 360 wouldn’t read my disk, and I would have to open/close tray before it would work.
So I decided to install it to my 360 (Not downloading from Game marketplace, but from the disk). So my question is, when I did that, did the fact that my 360 was connected to the internet make sure to account for any “Missing” information, or do I need to try renting a fully functional Reach disk and install that instead?
In other words, when it installs my game to the HD, does it take the data from the actual disk (So it may be slightly incomplete), or is my 360 so advanced that it took the data it needed from the copy on XBL Marketplace to fill the gaps?
Sorry if that is a weird topic.
I would buy another disc or the DLC version of Reach as it’s not worth risking damage to your Xbox because of a now cheap game.

No, it will not fill in the gaps with information from the marketplace, BUT it also will not install correctly if it can’t read part of the disk, and the installation will simply fail.
Thus, if you’re successful in installing the game to the hard drive, you’re alright. I’d do so immediately.

Your Xbox will fill in the gaps
Thanks guys, sorry for being a nub on this subject.
It takes data off the disc, but it doesn’t install the entire game – just certain developer-specified pieces of it.
So if the Xbox didn’t pull any data from parts of the disc that are already broken, and then those parts break later, then having the game installed should basically allow you to compensate for that damage. But if there’s data that doesn’t get installed (regardless of the disc’s condition), and the part of the disc that holds that data breaks, then you will have problems, installation or no.

With what? AFAIK installing doesn’t require an Internet connection, which means that the console isn’t taking data from any online source.
