Need more ranked playlist and ranking system fixed!

We really need more rank playlist and fix the ranking system! its frustrating/annoying that the rank system is solely focus and progressed by the kill and death ratio like nothing else matters it makes no sense at all especially when majority of the game in ranked arena is objectives that’s why you should have playlist like

  • Ranked FFA
  • Ranked doubles
  • Ranked Slayer
  • Ranked tactical slayer
  • Ranked Objectives
  • Ranked BTB
  • Ranked Arena Etc.
Problem is that people don’t want to be forced into playing a selective modes/playlist not everyone is a fan of objectives or are fans of certain types! I’ve seen and encounter people quitting in the beginning of a match or 1/2 way though and lost rank because my team was short handed and the other team had the advantage & vice versa due to having their entire team this makes playing ranked less fun! 343i you also need to find a way to incorporate players assist, flags captures/returns, the amount of time with the ball/ inside the hill, or the amount of areas captured because how rank system works now is ridiculous a lot of others would agree. Give us the options to chose along with keeping the social playlist what we have only add to it don’t take away make different tabs 1) ranked 2) social 3) event 4) BR with each having sub playlists for the those catagories

Thoroughly agree on more ranked playlists.

One is kind of restricting.

Overall I don’t mind slayer and objective games being mixed. Pre-Infinite I was definitely Slayer only… but now I enjoy the challenge and variety (providing you have a team working on the same page).

And 343 definitely need to mix up their strategy for handling quits.

Intuitively I agree.

But when they ran the numbers they found that none of those metrics predicted an increase in your skill rank. For some, it actually decreased it.

Now, don’t get me wrong. Those metrics are important to winning the game. But weighting them out for extra attention wasn’t helpful. Microsoft ran data on kills, deaths, assists, K/D, K-D, damage, medals, etc. And the only metrics with additive ranking properties were kill and (to a lesser extent) death rates.

Essentially you may be king at holding the oddball… but if you are ranked up on that skill alone you end up being exposed badly because you don’t have the skills to go 1v1 (the most important skill of all) at that rank.

I agree with that but I feel that the problem is that no one wants to cap a flag, pick up the ball, or cap any zones because they know none of that matters. I feel that they should count them to a certain extent. I found myself at times doing the dirty work of going for the flag, picking up ball, etc. because I didn’t want to lose and I suffered for it because my teams did want to help and just stayed back to slay while the opposite team out numbered me and picked me off because they were helping each other out like they should. I had a game that I had 2 caped flags, 15 kills 12 death, 10 assist 3 returns barely moved up in rank but a person that had 30 kills, 18 deaths, no assist, no caps got a a huge amount of exp and they were a higher rank they I was idk I just feel that they need to do better with the ranking system

It’s not so white and black just looking at how that player went up further than you. You aren’t able to determine their hidden MMR, but seeing a big blue progress bar after a win is a big hint that their MMR is above their CSR.

It’s probably been explained way too many times already…but for a small example…take a player who’s good, but doesn’t get lots of chances to play. They play their placements…rank in mid daimond…last season the player could have been an onyx 1700…meanwhile…another player who ranks in mid daimond, only got up to D6 without a huge stack in stat and winning trends last season.

So if these 2 play together, the player who has the higher MMR gains much more for most wins against higher teams. The other player goes up, but much more slowly unless their trend significantly changes. The game wants that higher player to move up faster to get out of lobbies where other players will question how did this mid daimond pull these stats?

The longer you play, you experience a sort of soft cap on your csr earnings unless you significantly change the trend and stats…and getting flag, ball, hill time, all that stuff is still important to the win. At the higher end of the skill curve, imo…players do what they have to do to win. If the opportunity to grab ball or hill is there and no ones picking it up, they do it. If they gotta slay out, they drop the objective momentarily etc.

The objective isn’t to turn a 4v4 into a 3v4 because one player thinks oddball means carry the ball even though they’re literally witnessing their team mate fight a 1v2…literally in their sight line…and think holding the ball is more important even though their team mate will more than likley not even snag 1 kill…and that 2v1 now moves onto the ball carrier and…well…good luck winning that right?

Theres a time and place for everything. It would be nice for some bonus csr holding objective…i don’t believe someone who adopts this like…super objective focused play style to move up like crazy because that play style will eventually become counter productive. So imo…it would be nice for it to matter, but it cant become something that matters more than everything else despite that yea…the ball time is what the end of the scorecard shows in who wins but…it’s all that happens on the battlefield that allow the objective to even be carried out that truly brings the W.

Blocking spawns, manipulating spawns, slaying out, not dying and spending half the match on respawn etc etc. I’m sure you know all of that stuff, but it’s just all important. It’s still a 4v4, and against good times there’s hardly times where 1 player can just easily hold the ball the entire match. When that happens, it usually shows the match was heavily skewed one way.

This is purely on 343. They just don’t communicate. People think that K/D or K-D is the over arching metric.

It’s not.

343 just need to talk to the players.

It’s frustrating when your team isn’t on the same page.

But also remember that doing those things shouldn’t be a free kill to the opposition. The good teams / players drop the ball etc to fight back. You win objective games by having more players on the field. They are essentially slayer with a job to do.

Keep in mind that that your personal performance doesn’t affect CSR at all. Their 30 kills doesn’t change the amount of CSR they, or you, get for that game. It’s all about the win, the rank of the opposition, and the pull of your MMR.

Now, if they are getting high kpm for all their games it’s a good bet they need to rank up. So their MMR may be increasing in the background and pulling their CSR up faster. But that completely independent of your relative performance in the game you played.
