It’s not so white and black just looking at how that player went up further than you. You aren’t able to determine their hidden MMR, but seeing a big blue progress bar after a win is a big hint that their MMR is above their CSR.
It’s probably been explained way too many times already…but for a small example…take a player who’s good, but doesn’t get lots of chances to play. They play their placements…rank in mid daimond…last season the player could have been an onyx 1700…meanwhile…another player who ranks in mid daimond, only got up to D6 without a huge stack in stat and winning trends last season.
So if these 2 play together, the player who has the higher MMR gains much more for most wins against higher teams. The other player goes up, but much more slowly unless their trend significantly changes. The game wants that higher player to move up faster to get out of lobbies where other players will question how did this mid daimond pull these stats?
The longer you play, you experience a sort of soft cap on your csr earnings unless you significantly change the trend and stats…and getting flag, ball, hill time, all that stuff is still important to the win. At the higher end of the skill curve, imo…players do what they have to do to win. If the opportunity to grab ball or hill is there and no ones picking it up, they do it. If they gotta slay out, they drop the objective momentarily etc.
The objective isn’t to turn a 4v4 into a 3v4 because one player thinks oddball means carry the ball even though they’re literally witnessing their team mate fight a 1v2…literally in their sight line…and think holding the ball is more important even though their team mate will more than likley not even snag 1 kill…and that 2v1 now moves onto the ball carrier and…well…good luck winning that right?
Theres a time and place for everything. It would be nice for some bonus csr holding objective…i don’t believe someone who adopts this like…super objective focused play style to move up like crazy because that play style will eventually become counter productive. So imo…it would be nice for it to matter, but it cant become something that matters more than everything else despite that yea…the ball time is what the end of the scorecard shows in who wins but…it’s all that happens on the battlefield that allow the objective to even be carried out that truly brings the W.
Blocking spawns, manipulating spawns, slaying out, not dying and spending half the match on respawn etc etc. I’m sure you know all of that stuff, but it’s just all important. It’s still a 4v4, and against good times there’s hardly times where 1 player can just easily hold the ball the entire match. When that happens, it usually shows the match was heavily skewed one way.
