The other day I was playing Dominion and made this kill. Normally I shy away from the sniper rifle due to the fact I am terrible with it, however getting this kill gave me the motive to improve in this area.
So does anyone have any advice?
Aim for the head!!!

Well, when I start getting back into the groove of sniping, I always go for body shots so I can get a feel for the sniper =) I only go for the head if I’m confident I can make the shot, as ammo is precious when you’re not playing Team Snipers.
Just aim for the chest to begin with (or you can just aim for the head), then when you confident at sniping aim for the head only =P
I am shooting at the chest currently, but having trouble hitting them when they are running. I go a little further ahead and wait for the shot but then they just turn around or head in another direction.
I also tried practicing in team snipers and I just get slaughtered.
When upcloase, just jump around and hope to get a kill.
There is a fine line between patience while waiting for a good shot, and just hesitation. Just be confident in your abilities and go for it!

Lol, the second guy got hit in the collarbone and counted it as a headshot. Cool kills though.
I had a post awhile ago in another “sniper tips” thread that I’ll see if I can find that went kind of in depth. Don’t remember everything I said and am too lazy to rewrite it, sorry. haha
Sniper: Start practicing body shots. With experience you will learn to predict a player’s trajectory. Someone with good practice will be able to headshot someone from a man cannon.
Beam: Has less ammo, but faster firerate. For some reason i find it harder to use but i get more multikills with it.
Binary: Quickscopes are a good way not to give your position. If you have another weapon with good scope zoom aim with it before swapping to the Binary and zooming.
Also, never stay exactly in the same place. Learn where other sniper usually tend to be. Camo is the best way to stay hidden. Do not fire repeatedly as it will let other snipers take care of you easily. Good luck and good playing.

Luckily Halo has large hit boxes for guys like me.
What is your sens on?
Seems ridiculous but lead your shots a little bit.
Don’t be afraid to burn ammo. I used to conserve every shot, but when I started to loosen up, I got more kills, and thus became better.
Don’t bring it in for CQC.
Aim for the body for far away people.

Play Team Snipers.
Also download the map Octagon and the gametype Octagon. The map is an open octagon. Play 1vs1 against someone who is good. Your second weapon is a Sniper. Your aiming will get good fast.
Practice makes perfect. Also keep distance between you and your opponents. That’s the advantage of having a sniper rifle. Don’t run and get killed with it in CQC. Treat it like your precious.
