What maps/game modes/ spawn the railgun the most i’m having a tough time mastering it. Also any tips on how to get kills besides shoot someone like maybe a level that you can get double kills from blowing up warthogs or any other useful information that would help me master railgun he fastest.
Off the top of my head, there are two maps that spawn rail guns at the start on BTB, being Ragnarok and Meltdown. Ragnarok is at the right side before their cave entrances (For both bases, from starting perspective), and Meltdown is at the right also just before the little bunkers by the bases. They spawn in those areas on those maps for every game mode that you can play them on I’m pretty sure. Dominion is good so you can level up other ordnance weapons too.
You’re gonna mostly rely on getting infantry kills with it. It doesn’t do too much damage to vehicles, but it definitely does scare them. You can kill a vehicle with it if it’s health is low, so just make sure of that before shooting at one. It’s splash damage is also very minor, so it’ll be rare and difficult to get doubles/triples on infantry. (It can happen though, my friend has a triple kill shot on his file share, haha. They were bunched up next to each other)
Good luck. Mine’s almost half way through 4/5. Just use it a lot. A weapon commendation can go by quick if you just concentrate on it.
You’re best bet is BTB. It comes up in Ordinance the most and there are are lots of distracted players allowing for un interrupted fire time. I wouldn’t fire at Vehicles unless they are severely damaged. The railgun isn’t great as an anti-vehicle weapon.
It’s a map spawn for Dominion on Longbow on the long stretch of ice between C and A base.

The railgun up close and personal is lethal. At mid range nothing can beat it other than rockets/incini. Get closer to your opponents and you’ll be getting a lot more kills… also remember that you don’t have to charge it all the way before you can pop off a round.
And it is horrendous against vehicles. Railgun is anti-personnel, not anti-armor. It takes 3 shots from a railgun to down a warthog. Not worth it.
It spawns a lot on Complex.
I’ve found it a bunch on Dominion: Longbow and Meltdown. I personally love using the gun to kill players as they are going to cap a base, but heaven help you on longbow. The given segments where people can get shot by it is so open that by the time you see the blue light charge, you almost have no time to ever get to cover…
I’d recommend using it there. It’s also an ordnance drop in Vortex for Alpha sometimes, though this somewhat rare as it also spawns Incineration Cannon and snipers at alpha when I play.
Team Slayer and Regicide on Complex, I’ve occasionally encountered it on Solace, Haven and Harvest (Crimson Map Pack) as well.
CRITICAL INFORMATION : recently I have discovered how to make the rail gun extramural easy to use, most of you hold the trigger to it charges and shoots by it self, that require you to hold your aim for a long time, about 3 seconds to charge and fire, you don’t have to hold, you can hold and let go and it will fire premature with same dmg, for about 1.5 seconds. So DO NOT HOLD THE TRIGGER TILL IT FIRES BY ITSELF, HOLD THE TRIGGER FOR 1.5 SECONDS AND LET GO
Great tip. Although I am fairly aware of that, I very guilty of completely forgetting about it when I actually have the weapon in my hand. Epic fails half the time, hehe.
