Hello, my son has lost some save files on Halo 4,
after system update on the Xbox, that he is playing at his Grandparents place, which is located in Bosnia.
So some ways away from me at the moment, as I live in Canada.
He was level 18 I believe, and after update, his safe files or whatever got deleted.
So he had to start from beginning again.
Which he has, and possibly around level 5 by now.
But I want to help, and I want to figure out what went wrong, and if something can be done?
i have been trying to do this between Xbox Suport, then 343industries, and now I’m directed here.
His gamer tag: RentedMedal2201
His internet provider is not exactly best there, so I have been trying to resolve this for him.
I was specifically directed by Xbox support to contact 343industries, and they told me to contact you guys for help.

Im just a random guy. But i just looked into the gamertag you mentioned (RentedMedal2201) and it looks as if they have only played a handful of games. So his save files being deleted wouldn’t affect his online service record. They are two separate entities.
To me it looks like they took an offline profile online, and the exp was reduced. For example, someone could modify the game offline, giving them max rank, and then bring it online. But they will only get a certain amount of that EXP. This method was also used in halo reach to avoid exploitation.
Ultimately, dropping from level 18 is not a big deal. Very easy to rank up in the lower levels. once you hit 100, that would be worthy of restoration. But 18 is maybe a couple days of gameplay. Nothing crazy.

Yeah, he does not exactly have verity to choose from at his Grandparents, nor in Bosnia ether. He is using his uncles Xbox 360. And he has been playing Halo for some time, that’s all he has been playing there. And I don’t know how rankings work as he is now SR6, and he was SR18. When he did update on his Xbox it deleted his saves.

and even if his rank or level or whatever was reduced, then it would be reduced, not deleted. And he would not have to start all over again.
He has been playing little since the loss, but I have not gotten any real help, or explanation from anyone.
I have tried with Xbox Support, which directed me to 343industries, because apparently they can check his achievements, and progress…etc, and fix the issue. Which clearly was not the case, because I was directed here, and waiting for qualified tech/support to look into this issue… which is starting to get tiring, quite frankly.

No one can restore an account to a lost level.
That’s the bad news. The good news is that SR-18 doesn’t take long to get to.
