Need driveable Pelicans and Scarabs. It's next gen

Halo: Combat Evolved (2001) had driveable Pelicans and Scarabs with the help of PC mods (look up Extinction for Halo: Combat Evolved).

Halo: Reach (2010) had driveable Pelicans and Scarabs with the help of PC mods (look up Extinction for Halo: Reach).

There’s no excuse why the Slipspace Engine (2021) can’t do it. It would be a waste of the massive Campaign areas to only be for the close quarters combat gameplay we saw in the July demo, the Campaign needs big vehicle battles with Scarabs and Pelicans to move the technology forward and evolve. Instead of another boring small scale battle with a few warthogs and ghosts…

Same for multiplayer if there’s an bigger Big Team Battle.

You know what, I agree.

I think it will be a missed opportunity and a disappointment if we don’t have bigger vehicles like the scarab that we can drive. I’m hopeful we’ll see a lot more meaningful vehicle based combat in Halo Infinite. The vehicles need to be tougher though.

I agree with you it will be i will be bummed if we don’t get a bigger mode they put the pelican in halo 4 forge in halo mcc I really want a bigger game mode a lot of the community does to!!

Hopefully we can get a bigger, better Forge world and NPCs, New vehicles and weapons for Infinite’s forge mode

I agree. They did tease a couple new vehicles coming to infinite and some classics returning. One new vehicle they teased in the new inside infinite supposedly has the mobility of a warthog and the fire power of a scorpion. Can’t wait to see these new vehicles and just to play the game in general

It’s not next-gen, as it is also releasing on XB1. Stop spreading those words around the community it causes major overhyped problems.

i mean that would be great game mode i think imagine Team king of the hill on the back of a scarab would be quite a doozy.

i wouldn’t also be apposed to a scripted event either like what happened in halo 2 a the scarab crossed through the city or something akin to that.

Scarabs? I don’t know, hard to imagine it being fun to play with. Its slow, not very maneuverable. A pelican we already had in Halo 4 so it could very well return in Infinite since the map is so big now.

If we don’t get to pilot them, I would like if we can ride in them in game and activate turrets or something.

I think being able to operate vehicles like the Scarab and the Pelican relies more on map design then console power. Those are huge vehicles and would need an equally massive map for them to be worth controlling

They should nerf the Xbox One version to 30fps 720p with downgraded graphics then. If releasing it on Xbox One holds back Halo Infinite’s content over the next 10 years (a decision they made), then disappointment is a natural consequence.

The overhyped problems are their own problems, for their decision to combine an outdated console release (Xbox One) with a 10 year plan.

Simply downgrading the graphics quality of the XB1 version won’t solve the problem of the game being incapable of taking full advantage of non-graphical next-gen features. Let’s take AI for example, the Series is capable of having large numbers of complex AI on screen at a time, “hundreds” as they say. Simply reducing the graphics quality on Xbox One won’t magically increase the amount of AI the system is capable of processing at any given time. At least not at the complexity that is expected from Halo and has to some extent been shown in the reveal gameplay.

Completely scrapping the XB1 version would be the way to go. But at this point the entire game would need to be restructured so ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

They should do that if they’re sticking to the 10 year plan. Making it for the Xbox One holds it’s potential back, that’s one negative. Making it a 10 year plan means we’re stuck with the same game for 10 years, that’s another negative.

Mixing those two negatives means we’re stuck with an outdated game made for an outdated console, for 10 years.

One of those negatives should be dropped because together they mix into a poisonous concoction

Honestly it would require rebuilding so much of the game to be a true next-gen title we’d be looking at a 2-3 year delay instead of the 1 year one we got.

They should drop the 10 year plan. An outdated game tied to an outdated console, mixes horribly with a 10 year plan.

The 10 year plan doesn’t actually mean no new Halo titles for the next 10 years, it just means that 343 actually plans to follow through on Infinite as a soft reboot, telling it’s story and keeping its general gameplay philosophies across titles through the 2020’s. Probably as a trilogy.

It’s just their way of saying they actually have a plan for this decade, because they clearly didn’t when they rebooted the franchise in Halo 4, and then again in Halo 5. Only to scrap the stories and gameplay from those games as soon as it came time for a sequel.

Basically expect Halo Infinite through the next two or three games to feel more uniform and continuous like CE through 3 did from both a gameplay and story standpoint.

It’s always good to have the general ideas for the future of Halo written in a comprehensive plan in to define goals and core development principles for the Halo franchise.

When it comes to the term “outdated game”, I would assume that the “Slipspace Engine” is developed in a such that it’s reasonable to assume that its technical lifespan will last for decades.

The 10 year plan being that we’re stuck with the same game for 10 years. Like instead of getting Halo 2 and 3 as separate games, they would be expansions for Halo CE.

Saying the

  • **“Slipspace Engine is developed in a such that it’s reasonable to assume that its technical lifespan will last for decades”**clashes with
  • "Simply downgrading the graphics quality of the XB1 version won’t solve the problem of the game being incapable of taking full advantage of non-graphical next-gen features.".I’m fine with agreeing with one of those statements, but you can’t have both statements at the same time. They contradict each other.

I mean, it would be so fun to play with phantoms, scarabs, pelicans without glitches, mods…
